It may not be the executive-level sedan that JDM fans remember, but the resurrected Toyota Crown is eccentric in its own right. Sitting on Toyota's New Global Architecture, the lifted sedan has a road presence unlike other sedans in its class, and now the Japanese manufacturer is making it even more rugged. Before you get too excited, Toyota says this version will only be available in Japan, at least for now.

Known as the Toyota Crown Landscape Edition, Toyota is capitalizing on the Crown's height by making an off-the-beaten-path-ready version. With a one-inch lift, the Toyota Crown Landscape will have a total ground clearance of 6.8 inches. That's not quite SUV-levels of clearance, but it should allow for some more confidence on route to the campsite.

Beyond the suspension lift, Toyota has also fitted 18-inch two-tone wheels and a set of 245/60 R18 all-terrain tires to the special edition Crown. This outdoors-focused version is as much about the visuals as the mechanical bits, with Toyota fitting red mud flaps and tacked-on fender flares to it. Urban Khaki paint, a factory-available roof rack, and rear fog lights make up the remainder of its adventure-ready aesthetics.

Toyota says the Crown Landscape will come with all-wheel drive and the 2.4-liter hybrid powertrain exclusively. With 340 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque, the Toyota Crown Landscape won't be winning any races, but it will be towing up to 1,653 pounds thanks to an included tow-hitch. While this version of the Crown won't arrive stateside, its Yen-to-Dollars pricing of $45,300 seems particularly inexpensive, at least compared to the top-end, $54,465 Platinum edition here in the U.S.
