Toppled trees, pools of water fill South Florida streets. See rain-drenched scenes

Trees toppled cars and homes. Schools closed in Broward. Tens of thousands lost power. All due to the deluge flooding South Florida.

The extreme weather that has pummeled the region since Tuesday night is here to stay — at least for the next day or so, according to forecasters.

Between 4 to 8 inches of rain fell over most of the region in 24 hours. Parts of the Everglades and south Miami-Dade saw up to 15 inches of rain.
