Here are the top Topeka-area high school performances from April 30-May 4

TOPEKA — The spring sports season is starting to take shape. There have been many great performances on the diamond and the soccer pitch highlighting the Topeka-area.

Golf and tennis are beginning their postseason while conditions are improving for fast times on the track. Here are the top performances from the week of April 29-May 5.

Boys

Monday, April 30

Lawsen Lobatos-Dick and Dylan Willingham, Washburn Rural tennis: The doubles pair came away as Centennial League Conference Champions for their performance in the league tournament. The duo also helped the Junior Blues claim the team title, too.

Joseph Luke and Chase Blaser, Hayden tennis: The Wildcats doubles team finished in third place in the Centennial League Conference Championship.

Aaron Merritt, Seaman track: It was a busy day for the senior. He won the 100-meter dash and the 110-meter hurdles in the Seaman Relays. Merritt also finished in second place in the 200-meter yard dash.

Alesecio Batson, Topeka West track: The standout triple jumper continues his incredible season as he took the title in the Seaman Relays. He hit a mark of 44-feet 7-inches in the event to secure the win.

Kyle Walker, Washburn Rural baseball: The shortstop hit the walk-off single to left field to deliver a come-from-behind 7-6 win against Shawnee Heights.

Kyler VanDonge, Washburn Rural baseball: The third baseman hit two RBIs which included a double and a triple in the Junior Blues 7-6 win over Shawnee Heights.

Carson Garner, Shawnee Heights baseball: The first baseman hit a two RBI single in the first inning to put the Thunderbirds ahead 2-0. Shawnee Heights held a 4-0 lead and a 6-4 advantage before falling to Washburn Rural 7-6.

Camden Horak, Rossville baseball: The star player for the Bulldawgs came up clutch with a walk-off single to right field. Rossville defeated Wamego 3-2 in game one of their doubleheader.

Tanner Martin, Silver Lake baseball: Martin’s two run homer in the first inning set the tone for the Eagles. Not only did he hit a home run, he pitched five innings and gave up just four runs in Silver Lake’s 14-4 win against Frankfort.

Girls

Monday, April 30

Jaida Stallbaumer, Seaman track: The junior won the 100-meter hurdles in the Seaman Relays. Her time of 16.06 was the top time by .24 seconds.

Carsyn Broxterman, Hayden soccer: The sophomore was on fire for the Wildcats. She netted a hat trick in Hayden’s 4-0 win over Piper.

Allie Schroeder, Washburn Rural soccer: The sophomore excelled in the Junior Blues 6-0 win over Shawnee Heights. She scored a brace and also finished with two assists in the victory.

Kinsey Perine, Rossville softball: The shortstop was seeing the ball very well from the batter’s box. Perine collected four hits on four at-bats. She finished with a triple and three singles in Rossville’s 10-0 win against Wamego.

Kira Lowrey, Silver Lake softball: The third baseman finished with three RBIs in Silver Lake's 11-3 dismantling of St. Marys. She was also key in the Eagles' 15-0 game two win against St. Marys, too.
