Top Greater Taunton H.S. sports performers for May 6-12

Another week of the spring high school sports season is upon us in the Greater Taunton area.

Last week, Taunton softball earned a pair of key wins over fellow Division 1 Top 10 opponents while Bristol-Plymouth and Dighton-Rehoboth softball continued to swing hot bats and Bristol-Plymouth boys lacrosse exacted its revenge on rivals Blue Hills. Taunton baseball scored a comeback win over Shrewsbury while a Bridgewater-Raynham boys lacrosse player hit a career milestone, Dighton-Rehoboth boys volleyball earned its first tournament berth in 20 years and all four local track teams had some strong showings over the weekend.

Here's a look at all of the stats, scores and highlights from the first full week of May.

Tuesday

Baseball

Zach Branco led the way at the plate for Bristol-Plymouth (4-8, 3-4 MAC), going 3-for-4 with a pair of runs and an RBI as the Craftsmen fell 13-8 to Blue Hills at home in MAC action. Jayden Cruz went 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI while Brayden Alves went 1-for-3 with a pair of runs and an RBI, Antonio Cirino went 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI, Colby Robertson went 1-for-2 with a run and Jamari Harris went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Kyle Weldon took the loss after going 2⅔ innings in relief giving up eight unearned runs on three hits and four walks while striking out two and went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI at the plate. Drew Ryder started and went three innings giving up three runs on seven hits and a pair of walks while striking out two while Colton Carvalho tossed the final 1⅓ innings giving up a pair of runs on four hits and a walk while striking out one and went 1-for-2 with a pair of RBIs at the plate.

Ben Miller led the way for Dighton-Rehoboth (8-5, 6-4 SCC), tossing a complete game shutout giving up four hits and three walks while striking out eight and went 3-for-4 with a run at the plate as the Falcons beat Case 6-0 on the road in SCC action. Brennan Silva went 3-for-4 with an RBI while Jordan Castro and Lucas LeTourneau both went 1-for-3 with a run and Maddex Mendoza went 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

Softball

Brooke Aldrich led the way at the plate for Taunton (13-0, 10-0 Hockomock), going 3-for-3 with a home run, three runs and a pair of RBIs as the Tigers beat Foxboro 12-0 at home in six innings of Hockomock action. Bella Bourque went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs and a pair of RBIs while Aniyah Bailey went 2-for-4 with a run and a pair of RBIs, Mia Torres went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs and Chelsea Bousquet and Gracie Oliveira both went 1-for-1 with a run and an RBI. Sam Lincoln earned the win after going all six innings giving up a hit while striking out 13 and went 1-for-3 with an RBI at the plate.

Emma Coxall led the way at the plate for Bristol-Plymouth (8-3, 6-1 MAC), going 3-for-3 with a triple, a pair of runs and five RBIs as the Craftsmen beat Blue Hills 20-5 on the road in five innings of MAC action. Bree Aldrich went 2-for-4 with three runs and a pair of RBIs while Ari Richards went 3-for-3 with three runs and an RBI, Shelby Estrella went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and Izzy Torres went 4-for-5 with a run and an RBI. Aubrey Mabrouk earned the win for B-P after going three innings giving up a pair of runs on four hits and a walk while striking out six and went 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI at the plate. Jessica Slavick tossed the final two innings giving up three runs (one earned) on three hits and a pair of walks while striking out three and went 1-for-5 with a run and an RBI at the plate.

Boys Lacrosse

Jayson Kelleher and Brendan Rosher each had a pair of goals as Bridgewater-Raynham (8-4) fell 18-6 to Marshfield on the road.

Girls Lacrosse

Karina Bosco led the way for Dighton-Rehoboth (6-4, 3-3 SCC) with five goals and three draws as the Falcons beat Middleboro 12-10 at home in non-league action. Mara Levesque had a pair of goals and four assists while Olivia Thibert and Gia Papa had a pair of goals and an assist and Ainsley Zibrida had a goal and a pair of assists. Phoebe Braga and Ava Escobar each made six saves in net for D-R.

Boys Tennis

Dighton-Rehoboth (6-3, 5-2 SCC) fell 3-2 to Old Rochester on the road in SCC action.

Girls Tennis

Dighton-Rehoboth (1-10, 1-7 SCC) fell 4-1 to Old Rochester at home in SCC action.

Boys Track and Field

Carlos Cruz won the 100 meter with a personal best time of 0:11.2 while Ancil Alexander won the shot put with a throw of 49'3" and the 4x100 meter relay team of Dmitrius Shearrion, Usman Yusif, Brayden Salvo and Kadon Jordan won with a time of 0:43.5 as Taunton (2-2, 2-2 Hockomock) fell 63-19 to Attleboro at home in a Hockomock dual meet.

Girls Track and Field

Renee Leao won the 100 meter hurdles with a personal best time of 0:16.6 and finished second in both the 400 meter hurdles (1:17.5) and javelin (81'1") as Taunton (0-4, 0-4 Hockomock) fell 50-41 to Attleboro at home in a Hockomock dual meet. Scoring other meet wins were Nevaeh Young in the 100 meter (0:13.2), Bella Coughlin in the long jump (16'0.5") and the 4x100 meter relay team of Grace Inacio, Sophia Hall, Chloe Blanc and Larissa Cardoso (0:51.4).

Monday

Baseball

Caden Lindskog led the way for Taunton (12-4, 9-2 Hockomock League), earning the win after tossing three sutout innings giving up a pair of hits and a walk while striking out two and went 2-for-2 with three runs and a pair of walks as the Tigers beat Foxboro 8-2 on the road in Hockomock action. Dwayne Burgo went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs and a pair of RBIs while Christopher Wallace went 1-for-1 with a pair of runs, Andrew Cali went 1-for-3 with three RBIs and Brayden Cali went 1-for-4 with a run. Tyler Lacerda went three innings in relief giving up a pair of runs on a pair of hits and a walk while striking out two before Ryan Crowley tossed the final shutout inning giving up a walk while striking out two.

Bobby Quill led the way at the plate for Bridgewater-Raynham (5-9, 2-3 Southeast Conference), going 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI as the Trojans fell 9-3 to Dartmouth at home in SEC action. Jack Haley went 2-for-3 with an RBI while Connor Nichols went 1-for-4 with a run and Vincent Tavares went 1-for-2 with a run. Jack Ritchie took the loss for B-R after going 5 ⅔ innings giving up eight runs (two earned) on seven hits while striking out five. Ryan Mahoney gave up a run and a walk in ⅓ of an inning before Carson Lanagan tossed the final shutout inning giving up a hit while striking out two.

Softball

Skye Harrison led the way at the plate for Dighton-Rehoboth (10-3, 6-3 South Coast Conference), going 2-for-3 while Lucy Latour went 1-for-4 as the Falcons fell 1-0 to Case on the road in SCC action. Edy Latour took the loss after going all six innings giving up a run on three hits and a walk while striking out three.

Boys Lacrosse

Taunton (3-9, 1-8 Hockomock) fell 14-1 to Milford at home in Hockomock action.

Cam Perry led the way for Bristol-Plymouth (7-5, 7-5 Mayflower Athletic Conference) with a pair of goals and three assists as the Craftsmen beat Cape Cod Tech 15-4 at home in MAC action. James Dolan and Jack Nickerson each had a hattrick and an assist while Andrew Flanagan had a goal and three assists, Shane Russo had a pair of goals and an assist, Alex Tricini had a goal and a pair of assists, Justin Deangelis had a goal and assist, Cody Garbitt and Kyle Garbitt each had a goal and Sebastian Maistis recorded an assist. Kelen Reis made eight saves in net for B-P while Xavier Cabral had one.

Girls Lacrosse

Cali Melo led the way for Taunton (0-11, 0-9 Hockomock) with six goals, an assist and 11 draws as the Tigers fell 14-10 to Milford on the road in Hockomock action. Taryn Campbell had a pair of goals, an assist and eight draws while Maddi Szala had a goal and four assists and Talia O'Leary had a goal.

Ashley McLaren led the way for Bridgewater-Raynham (3-9, 1-0 SEC) with a hattrick and an assist as the Trojans fell 9-7 to Falmouth on the road in non-league action. Claire Fitzsimmons had a pair of goals and an assist while Kate Lambert and Emily Keefe both found the back of the net. Ainsley Yates made eight saves in net for B-R.

Bristol-Plymouth (3-6, 3-5 MAC) fell 13-4 to Greater New Bedford on the road in non-league action.

Boys Tennis

Taunton (0-11, 0-10 Hockomock) fell 5-0 to Foxboro at home in Hockomock action.

Bridgewater-Raynham (4-6, 2-2 SEC) beat Silver Lake 3-2 at home in non-league action.

David Anghinetti won first singles 6-0, 6-0 while Spencer Jones won second singles 6-0, 6-0, Alex Verma won third singles 6-0, 6-2, the duo of David Martel and Bryce Doehler won first doubles 6-0, 6-3 and the duo of Ian Sousa and James Czech won second doubles 6-1, 6-1 as Dighton-Rehoboth (6-2, 5-1 SCC) swept Case 5-0 on the road in SCC action.

Girls Tennis

Sarah Riveiro won first singles 6-0, 6-0 while Morgan Smith won second singles 6-0, 6-0, Ava Alves won third singles 6-1, 6-4 and the duo of Sam Parrett and Chrisha Charls won second doubles as Taunton (10-2, 8-2 Hockomock) beat Foxboro 4-1 on the road in Hockomock action.

Nicole Kimball, Eily Mitchell, Chloe Nichols and the duo of Caroline Stull and Selena Georgakopolous won as Bridgewater-Raynham (7-3, 3-1 SEC) beat Silver Lake 4-1 on the road in non-league action.

Dighton-Rehoboth (1-9, 1-6 SCC) fell 3-2 to Bourne at home in SCC action.

Boys Volleyball

Travis Johnson led the way for Taunton (3-10) with 16 kills as the Tigers fell 3-0 (27-29, 22-25 and 16-25) to North Quincy at home.

Dylan Andreozzi and Andrew Cabral each had six kills as Dighton-Rehoboth (10-4, 9-2 Tri-Valley League) beat Millis 3-0 (25-4, 25-12 and 25-12) at home in TVL action.
