Top Greater Taunton H.S. sports performers for April 15-21

Another week of the spring high school sports season is upon on in the Greater Taunton area.

Last week, Dighton-Rehoboth boys volleyball continued one of their best starts to a season in years while Taunton baseball suffered its first loss to rivals Franklin in a state title rematch but bounced back against Mansfield. A Taunton girls lacrosse player hit a career milestone in a local showdown against Dighton-Rehoboth while Taunton boys lacrosse earned its first Hockomock win since returning to varsity status, Taunton and Dighton-Rehoboth softball continued their strong starts and both Bridgewater-Raynham and Bristol-Plymouth scored some impressive wins.

Here's a look at all of the stats, scores and highlights from the third week of April.

Tuesday

Baseball

Owen King led the way for Bridgewater-Raynham (2-3, 0-1 SEC), going 2-for-3 with an RBI at the plate and four innings on the mound giving up three runs (two earned) on a hit and a walk while striking out five 2-for-3 with an RBI as the Trojans fell 5-1 to Dartmouth on the road in non-league action. Bobby Quill went 0-for-3 with a run off a walk.

Ben Miller led the way for Dighton-Rehoboth (3-1, 1-0 SCC), going 5 ⅓ innings giving up three runs (two earned) on two hits and seven walks while striking out nine and went 1-for-3 at the plate with a pair of runs and a pair of RBIs as the Falcons beat Oliver Ames 10-3 at home in non-league action. Maddex Mendoza went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs and an RBI while Lucas LeTourneau went 2-of-4 with a pair of RBIs, Jordan Castro went 1-for-2 with a run and three RBIs and Charlie Roth went 1-for-2 with a pair of runs and tossed the remaining 1 ⅔ shutout innings walking two while striking out one.

Softball

Madison Crowley led the way for Taunton (5-0, 5-0 Hockomock), going 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBIs as the Tigers beat Mansfield 14-0 in five innings on the road in Hockomock action. Sam Lincoln and Cate Larson combined for a no-hitter, with Lincoln going two innings striking out all six batters she faced while Larson tossed the final three innings striking out a pair. Mia Torres went 1-for-3 with a pair of runs and a pair of RBIs while Brooke Aldrich went 1-for-3 with a run and a pair of RBIs and Bella Bourque went 1-for-2 with a run and an RBI.

Monday

Baseball

Caden Lindskog led the way at the plate for Taunton (5-2, 4-1 Hockomock League), going 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI as the Tigers beat Plymouth North 4-1 at home in non-league action. Brayden Cali went 1-for-2 with a pair of runs while Jared Spencer went 1-for-2 with a run and an RBI. Brady Morin earned the win for the hosts, going all seven innings giving up a run on seven hits and a walk while striking out one.

Kyle Weldon led the way for Bristol-Plymouth (1-3, 1-1 Mayflower Athletic Conference), going six innings giving up two runs on eight hits while striking out four and 2-for-3 at the plate with a pair of runs and an RBI as the Craftsmen beat Old Colony 11-2 at home in MAC action. Joe Benevides went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBIs and a run while Cam Wilbur went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and a run, Colby Robertson went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs and a pair of RBIs and Jake LaPlante went 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Cam Cruz tossed a shutout inning in relief giving up a hit and a walk.

Softball

Bridgewater-Raynham (3-1) beat Greater New Bedford 5-4 on the road in non-league action.

Isabella Torres led the way at the plate for Bristol-Plymouth (3-1, 2-0 MAC), going 3-for-3 with three runs and four RBIs as the Craftsmen beat Old Colony 22-6 in five innings on the road in MAC action. Sara Norcross went 1-for-3 with a pair of runs and four RBIs while Tayla Duarte went 1-for-3 with three runs and a pair of RBIs, Bree Aldrich went 0-for-3 with three runs and two RBIs off three walks and Molly Clark went 0-for-1 with three runs and a pair of RBIs on four walks. Aubrey Mabrouk earned the win for B-P, going all five innings giving up six runs (one earned) on nine hits while striking out nine and went 2-for-3 with four RBIs at the plate.

Haleigh Kelley led the way at the plate for Dighton-Rehoboth (3-0, 0-1 South Coast Conference), going 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI off a solo home run as the Falcons fell 2-1 to Case at home in SCC action. Cam Cloonan and Izzy Moss each had a double while Edy Latour was credited with the loss after going all seven innings giving up a pair of runs on eight hits while striking out seven.

Girls Lacrosse

Emily Keefe led the way for Bridgewater-Raynham (1-4, 1-0 Southeast Conference) with three goals as the Trojans fell 14-9 at home in non-league action. Lexi White had a pair of goals while Emily Long, Grace LaRose, Sydney O’Donnell and Lacey Haikola each found the back of the net. Ainsley Yates made 16 saves in net for B-R.
