Tonight Will Be A Special Evening For The Buccaneers

It’s been six months since the Tampa Bay Buccaneers upset and rolled over the Kansas City Chiefs to win Super Bowl LV. And today will be a special day for that team.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are scheduled to receive their Super Bowl rings tonight. The ceremony comes one day after the team took their celebratory visit to the White House to meet President Joe Biden.

It will be the second ring presentation in franchise history. The Buccaneers won their first Super Bowl in 2002, beating the Oakland Raiders thanks to one of the greatest defenses in NFL history.

For all but a handful of players on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers – the most notable exceptions being Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski – they will be receiving their first-ever Super Bowl ring. No doubt it will be an emotional ceremony for some.

The 2020 Tampa Bay Buccaneers were a force to be reckoned with on both offense and defense. They finished third in points scored with a franchise record 492. On defense, they allowed just 355 points, their fewest allowed since 2010.

The Buccaneers went 11-5 in the regular season, losing the NFC South title but still reaching the playoffs for the first time since 2007. But after beating the Washington Football Team in the Wildcard Round, the third time was the charm and they beat the Saints to reach the NFC Championship Game.

In the NFC Championship Game, the Buccaneers beat the Green Bay Packers to reach the Super Bowl. They then beat the Kansas City Chiefs 31-9 – avenging a regular season loss to them – to win the championship.

They spent the offseason bringing back every major contributor to that win. Can they repeat as champions?
