Tommy Fury has landed a role in a film that will also star Peaky Blinders actor Paul Anderson.

Variety has reported that the boxer and 2019 Love Island contestant will make his acting debut in The Debt Inherited.

Written by Niki Sheldrake and marking the directorial debut of Danny Sawaf, the "black comedy crime film" follows brothers Colin and Stanley, who are faced with repaying their late father’s debt to a notorious lone shark called Maggie.

The film’s synopsis reads: "Soon enough, they become involved in a criminal underworld and entangled in a web of blackmail and deceit with a host of insalubrious characters."

While the central characters of Colin and Stanley have not yet been cast, Fury will play a character called Johnny, one of Maggie’s no-nonsense henchmen.

The Debt Inherited will also star Anderson, known for playing Arthur Shelby in the popular BBC crime drama.

He will play Terry, "a womanising alcoholic who employs the brothers to stop his work colleague Dirk (Green Street’s Leo Gregory) from exposing him to his wife as a cheat."

In a statement, Sawaf said: "The script is operatic and the tone is a not-so-subtle cluster of neuroticism, dismay and quintessential British dark humour.

"It has universal themes of survival engulfed in a lurking Kafka-esque feeling of high-stakes and hysterical satire, with events unfolding in unimaginable ways. People die – debts don’t – and I can’t wait to bring this story to life."

Earlier this year, Fury – who last year got engaged to Molly-Mae Hague – announced another new career move away from the boxing ring, and revealed he had written his first book, Lightning Can Strike Twice.

Announcing the autobiography, which will be released in October, he said: "I’m proud to announce… I have written my first book! Find out what my life is like juggling many identities: A professional boxer, TV star, mental health advocate, fiancé and father."

There is not yet a release date for The Debt Inherited.
