Tom Hanks' Son Chet Takes Matters Into His Own Hands During Home Robbery

Chet Hanks

Tom Hanks' son Chet took matters into his own hands when a stranger allegedly attempted to rob him at his Los Angeles-area residence.

The Forrest Gump star's second-youngest son's home was reportedly the target of a burglary early on the morning of Monday, Nov. 6, but, despite the 3:00 a.m. timeclock, Chet was alert and ready to put his foot—er, his hand—down to protect himself and his belongings. It's not known if his 7-year-old daughter Michaiah was with him at the time.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that the 33-year-old actor got a good punch in on the 42-year-old suspect prior to their arrival. It didn't deter the intruder, though, as he continued to fight with police as they attempted to arrest him.

Though they were eventually able to cuff him, he continued to resist, falling backward onto one of the officers as they tried to lead him to one of their cars. According to the publication, the deputy broke his leg in the fall.

Both men were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The suspect was cleared before he was taken to jail and booked for burglary, but the officer's status was not commented on further. For his part, Chet was physically unharmed in the incident.

It's not clear how far into his home the trespasser made it, or what, if anything, he managed to get his hands on before Chet discovered him. At this point, the case is reportedly set to be forwarded to the L.A. County District Attorney's Office, where it will be considered for filing.
