Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers seem to be hitting their stride at just the right time. After three straight wins, the defending Super Bowl champions are right in the mix to land home-field advantage in the playoffs with just five games to go.

In those final few games, the Buccaneers have some favorable matchups. They’ll play the Carolina Panthers twice, the banged-up New Orleans Saints and the New York Jets. However, before Brady and Tampa Bay take on any of those opponents that are under .500, they’ll need to get past the Buffalo Bills.

The 7-5 Bills will roll into Raymond James Stadium this upcoming Sunday for a game between two teams with Super Bowl aspirations. The matchup is one of the more intriguing ones of the weekend, and even Brady pointed to its importance.

According to ESPN’s Jenna Laine, the Buccaneers quarterback called this Sunday’s game against the Bills his team’s “biggest game of the year.” With a chance to clinch the NFC South and various seeding implications on the line, Brady knows how important a win over Buffalo would be.

The Buccaneers enter the Week 14 matchup with the Bills at 9-3, holding a four game lead on the division. Although there’s no fear within the organization of losing the NFC South, clinching this weekend would at least make Tampa Bay feel a little more comfortable down the stretch.

The real importance for the defending Super Bowl champions comes with trying to get home-field advantage in the playoffs. The Buccaneers have powered their way through opponents this season when playing at Raymond James Stadium, but have been far less effective on the road. All three of the team’s losses in 2021 have come when outside of Tampa Bay.

That means clinching one of the top two spots in the NFC is of paramount importance for the Buccaneers. Brady already had to go through the road gauntlet to win a Super Bowl last year and would prefer to not have to do the same this postseason.

One advantage the Buccaneers will have this weekend is being at home against the Bills. Sunday’s matchup will get underway from Tampa Bay at 4:25 p.m. ET.
