Tom Brady Is Older Than These 13 NFL Head Coaches

Tom Brady is the undoubted face of longevity in the NFL — and today marks another birthday for the all-time great.

Heading into his 22nd season in the league at 44 years old, the future Hall of Fame quarterback is still operating a peak performance — claiming his seventh Super Bowl title this past year.

Everyone knows Brady’s accomplishments at this age are unbelievable, but this list puts things into perspective even more.

At 34 years old, Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay is the youngest coach in the league and a whole decade younger than Brady. When the former No. 199 overall pick was drafted by the New England Patriots in 2000, McVay was just 14 years old.

While there’s clearly plenty of coaches younger than Brady, the superstar QB has always had coaches significantly senior to himself. His current head coach Bruce Arians is the third oldest head coach in the league at 68 years old and his former Patriots head coach Bill Belichick ranks No. 2 at 69.

The only player even really close to Brady’s age in 2020 was New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees at 42. After 20 NFL seasons, the Saints legend called it quits at the end of this past season. For a while, Brady’s former New England teammate Adam Vinatieri held the title of oldest in the league, but the all-time great kicker retired earlier this year at 48 years old.

Free-agent long snapper L.P. Ladouceur, 40, is the only other active player over the age of 40.

The oldest quarterback of all-time was George Blanda, whose oldest age while playing was 48 years, 3 months, 18 days in 1976.
