Tokischa and Tainy Co-Star in Action-Packed ‘Jalo!’ Video for the ‘Rebel Moon’ Soundtrack (EXCLUSIVE)

Dominican rapper Tokischa leads the Tainy-produced trap beat of “Jalo!,” the first single to the companion EP for Zack Snyder‘s “Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver.”

“Working on this song was a great experience since it combines two of my favorite arts – music and film,” said Tainy, a Grammy-winning producer for Bad Bunny, Shakira, Karol G, Rosalía and more. Much like the universe of “Rebel Moon,” the Puerto Rican producer’s debut album “Data” was inspired by the technologically advanced settings of classic sci-fi films.

“I got my inspiration [for the song “Jalo!”] from the movie’s plot and listening to Tokischa’s lyrics,” said Tainy. “It’s very exciting for me as a producer to work with such a talented and versatile artist. This song showcases that versatility — it offers a different sound while still capturing the feelings and themes portrayed in the movie. It was super special to translate the emotions of the film into a song.”

Tokischa unapologetically spits her verses on “Jalo!,” a song about being resilient in the face of a threat: “He sufrío’ y he llora’o, pero nunca me he quita’o / Sigo firme no he dobla’o, soy la misma, no he cambia’o / Mi destino mi único enemigo y aquí sigo” (“I’ve suffered and I’ve cried but I’ve never quit / I stay firm haven’t bent, I’m the same, never changed / My destiny is my only enemy and I’m still standing”).

“I was inspired by the empowerment showcased in the movie,” Tokischa added. “The message it conveys about perseverance. It’s my first time being part of a film, so obviously, I fell in love with it.”

Along with “Jalo!,” the “Rebel Moon — Songs of the Rebellion” tracklist also features four original songs from Jessie Reyez, Tokimonsta, Aespa, Black Coffee and Kordhell. “Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver” is the finale of a two-part sci-fi epic that started with the December release of “Rebel Moon — Part One: A Child of Fire.” The EP will arrive April 5 while the final, action-packed installment will stream on Netflix on April 19.

Recorded on a rocky coast, the “Jalo!” music video stars Tainy and Tokischa who play futuristic thrill-seekers in action-packed scenes where both musicians show off their acting chops.
