'Today' Fans Get Sentimental Over Hoda Kotb Honoring Joel Schiffman With Rare Photo
Hoda Kotb and Joel Schiffman may no longer be a couple, but the Today show host still takes the time to honor his place in her life for a special occasion.
In January 2022, Hoda announced that she and her fiancé broke up after dating for almost a decade. During that time, Hoda and Joel adopted two daughters together: Haley Joy, 6, and Hope Catherine, 4. After sharing that they would move forward as "friends and parents," the news anchor, 58, and financier, 65, have kept their evolving relationship private. But as a way to commemorate Father's Day, Hoda acknowledged Joel's presence in their lives with a rare tribute on Instagram.
Sharing a photo of the girls with their dad, she publicly showed her appreciation for him. "Happy father’s day to a great dad!!" Hoda wrote on June 18.
Since Hoda normally keeps life with Joel and the girls offline, Today show fans were pleasantly surprised to see them come together to celebrate the holiday. Without skipping a beat, folks flocked to the comments section to share kind words.
"Your babies are blessed to have you and Joel co-parenting.💗," one person wrote on Instagram. "Look how happy everyone looks! The smiles on their faces is all that matters," another added. "I love that you continue to celebrate him! Your girls are so lucky! ❤️," a different follower declared.

Despite Hoda and Joel's romantic relationship ending, this isn't the only time she's spoken out about how great of a person he is. At the time of their breakup, she said that he will forever be in her life even if not in the way they both intended.
"We decided we are going to start... on our new path as loving parents to our adorable, delightful children, and as friends," she said on the Today show's fourth hour.
"He's a great guy. He's a very kind and loving person, and I feel privileged to have spent eight years with him," she added. "We are both good and we are both kind of going on our way and our path. We'll be good parents to those two lovely kids."
