Well, consider us impressed. Al Roker just revealed a surprise hack that helps keep him active throughout the work day, and we're definitely interested to know more about it.

In a video uploaded on Instagram on March 14, the Today show anchor revealed how he likes to keep up his love of walking when he's not able to make it outside. As he was filmed in his office, folks saw him walk on an under-desk treadmill while he attended to things on his computer. As Al explained in the short snippet, he enjoys getting his steps in any way he can — and he personally finds there to be a number of benefits.

"I like a treadmill in my office because you get some steps in, you're moving," he shared. "It only goes up to two miles per hour, so you can still talk, type, do whatever you need to and you're just moving in place... So, I like to just keep moving. And I think better as well, which obviously doesn't show on the air, but there you have it."

When fans were clued in to the weather presenter's preferred method of working, they immediately applauded him for sharing the helpful hack.

"This is genius! Too many jobs are one extreme or the other, all standing or all sitting. We need a better balance and understanding from all employers!!" one person wrote in the comments. "Love it! 🙌🔥 I’ve been working like this for years," another noted. "@alroker which treadmill do you recommend?" a different follower inquired.

While Al didn't specify which brand he uses, our experts do have some insights that may help you decide whether an under-desk treadmill is a fit for you. According to Stefani Sassos, M.S., R.D.N., C.D.N., NASM-CPT, Nutrition Lab Director at the Good Housekeeping Institute: "Sitting for prolonged periods of time can weaken large muscles in the legs and glutes, leading to shortened hip flexor muscles, back problems and poor posture."

If you're curious to try one out yourself, Good Housekeeping has a list of the best under-desk treadmills, along with key details about what to look for when shopping. We're sure you'll find one that suits your needs.
