That’s what South Carolina Education Lottery officials are telling anyone who bought a Powerball ticket in North Augusta in February, because time is running out to cash in the game for a $50,000 jackpot.

The winner was given 180 days to claim the five-figure prize, lottery officials said in a news release. That time is nearly all gone, as Aug. 24 is the final day to redeem the prize, otherwise the ticket will expire, according to the release.

Should no one come forward with the winning ticket before 4 p.m. on Aug. 24, the $50,000 will be deposited in the S.C. Education Lottery account to support educational programs in the Palmetto State, officials said.

The winning Powerball ticket was sold prior to the Feb. 25 drawing at the Circle K gas station/convenience store at 226 Georgia Ave., according to the release. That’s in Aiken County, near SRP Park, a baseball stadium on the banks of the Savannah River.

The prize-winning ticket was one number away from winning the grand prize in that Powerball drawing, as it matched four of the five white balls, along with the red Powerball number, officials said.

The winning numbers from the drawing were 11, 24, 58, 66, 67 and Powerball: 26.

The odds of matching four white ball numbers and the red Powerball number are 913,129-to-1, according to the release.

The chances of winning the top prize in a Powerball drawing are 293,000,000-to-1, officials said.

Should the winner turn in the ticket in time, they will be allowed to retain some privacy, as South Carolina is one of 11 states — along with Arizona, Delaware, Georgia, Kansas, Maryland, New Jersey, North Dakota, Ohio, Texas and Virginia — that allow lottery winners to remain anonymous.

If the ticket isn’t redeemed in time, the ticket buyer won’t be the only one who misses out on a prize. The convenience store in North Augusta is slated to receive a commission of $500 when the ticket is turned in to lottery officials.
