Time to Relive 11 of the Shortest Relationships in Bachelor Nation History
Despite ABC still being convinced the The Bachelor and The Bachelorette are shows where real people can find love (no ❤️), I think we can all agree the chances of that are...basically zero at this point. Like, our article on franchise couples who are still together gets smaller by the year. And while sure: TV love can happen for some people (hi, Jared and Ashley), most couples who get together on Bachelor Nation break up after a few months.
That said, some relationships can last a long time before bursting into flames. Others? Not so much. On that note: presenting 10 of the shortest Bachelor Nation 'ships ever—including one that lasted just three days. :)
Gabby Windey and Erich Schwer
Length: 7 months
Gabby and Erich got engaged at the end of The Bachelorette in May 2022, but broke up while Gabby was competing on Dancing with the Stars, which she actually confirmed during the show, saying “The end of our relationship happened because we weren’t completely in step and in sync with each other in our common goals or just the way we approach life."
Rachel Recchia and Tino Franco
Length: 5 months? Ish?
If you watched this season of The Bachelorette, you're well aware that Rachel and Tino's relationship ended in the messiest possible way (TL;DR, he cheated). Judging from our calculations, these two lasted somewhere around five months: their engagement took place in May 2022, and Reality Steve reported their split in early September.
Jenna Cooper and Jordan Kimball
Length: Approximately 1 day (at least in public)
These two got engaged during the 2018 finale of Bachelor in Paradise and broke up pretty much immediately after the episode aired thanks to fabricated messages that claimed Jenna was talking to another man. Jenna later told Us Weekly, “I thought that Jordan would defend me and we would get through it together, but it turned out very different. I mean it was a big downward spiral. Everybody went against me.”
Demi Burnett and Kristian Haggerty
Length: ~5 months
Demi and Kristian got engaged during Bachelor in Paradise season 6 (the show filmed in June 2019) and broke up a few months later in October. The former couple released a joint statement on Instagram, saying, "What has always been at the forefront of our relationship is love and care for one another. Our priority is doing what is best for us. With a heavy heart full of love for one another we have decided it is best for us to take a step back from our relationship. We ultimately want what is best for us in the long run and for us right now, that means being apart and growing individually."
Hannah Ann Sluss and Peter Weber
Length: 1 month
Pilot Pete proposed to Hannah Ann in late November 2019 and then ended things in the beginning of January 2020, telling her there were "unresolved issues."
"I'm like, 'What unresolved issues? I'm by your side. I gave you my word to be by your side,'" Hannah Ann said. "His unresolved issues were having to watch back the show—again, he completely downplayed it, completely. And when I showed up to the breakup, that was the very first time I heard him say, 'I can't give you my full heart.'"
Madison Prewett and Peter Weber
Length: 3 days
After breaking up with Hannah Ann, Peter got together with Madison Prewett and they announced their relationship on March 10, 2020. The vibes? Awkward, to say the least, mostly because Peter's mom Barb was not here for it. The couple ended up splitting on March 13, and Madison posted a lengthy statement on Instagram, saying in part, "As Peter and I have decided to go our separate ways, I am confident that we will both move in the direction of our purpose and never forget that God has a plan in all things. I will always love and respect him. I am convinced our paths were meant to cross and we are both better because they did."
Katie Thurston and Blake Moynes
Length: 6 months
Blake was spotted lurking around Katie's season in April 2021, and they got engaged super fast. As in, at the end of that same month. Alas, these two called off their engagement six months later on October 25, writing on Instagram, "It is with mutual love and respect that we have decided to go our separate ways. We are so grateful for the moments we shared together and the entire journey that has unfolded this year, but we ultimately have concluded that we are not compatible as life partners, and it is the most caring choice for both of us to move forward independently."
Hannah Brown and Jed Wyatt
Length: A couple weeks
Soooo Reality Steve reported in June 2019 that Hannah was engaged to Jed Wyatt. But in a shocking turn of events, they split up before the show's finale, shortly after information came to light that Jed had a girlfriend right before going on The Bachelorette. Made for a pretty awkward After the Final Rose, lemme tell you!
Clayton Echard and Susie Evans
Length: 10 months
Following Clayton's absolute mess of a Bachelor season (which ended in November 2021), Susie Evans slid into her ex's DMs. "I got my phone back, called my parents, DMed Clayton. I was in the Newark airport," she said during an episode of The Viall Files. "I was like, 'Are you OK? I will respect your boundaries whatever they are but if you want to have one more candid conversation, here's my phone number, give me a call.'"
These two revealed their renewed relationship during After the Final Rose in March 2022 but sadly broke things off the following September.
Emily Maynard and Jef Holm
Length: 4 months (in public)
Emily and Jef were honestly super cute, but after getting engaged during the Bachelorette finale in July 2012, they ended things in October. Emily released a statement at the time, saying, “I am sorry to tell you that Jef and I have, indeed, parted ways. It was a very difficult and heartbreaking decision." She added that "we tried our best because the love between us was so real."
Jesse Palmer and Jessica Bowlin
Length: 1 month
Jesse and Jessica broke up about a month after they got together during his finale, and Jesse released a statement saying, “Jessica and I shared an incredible romantic journey on the show that began with a friendship that remains strong today. We simply realized that, individually, our next steps take us in different directions.”
Dead that ABC picked someone with one of the shortest Bach relationships to host the show!
