Time to recall council members who ignore concerns about Connected Communities | Letters

Cincinnati Vice Mayor Jan-Michele Lemon Kearney asks a follow-up question to Councilman Reggie Harris (not pictured), Mayor Aftab Pureval, left and Councilman Jeff Cramerding as Anne Sesler, right, listens, during a Cincinnati Planning Commission, meeting, Friday, May 17, 2024, at City Hall in Cincinnati. The commission is hearing public comment and other testimony before voting on a zoning overhaul, Connected Communities.

After attending and speaking at the alleged Community Engagement Planning Commission Meeting, regarding Connected Communities, and listening to comments from Mayor Aftab Pureval and council members Jeff Cramerding and Reggie Harris, then witnessing a unanimous vote, with one abstention, for eliminating zoning rules, parking requirements, etc., in effected communities, it has become apparent that a voter recall of these three elected officials should be taken immediately. Maybe that will send a message to the other council members so when the Connected Communities ordinance comes up for a vote on June 5, they'll know it should not be approved.

A majority of opponents to these changes were individual homeowners and community council representatives while the minority of speakers at the meeting represented developers, the real-estate industry, health care industry, Metro and some individuals. Connected Communities should really be called developers and Realtors delight.

Let's send a message now: No on Connected Communities zoning changes.
