While you won’t find it on the brand’s homepage, the configurator for the 2024 Toyota Tacoma lineup is officially live, at a hidden link discovered by Tacoma4g.com user @bking. With deliveries of the mid-sizer slated to begin rolling out this month, now is the perfect time to build out your ideal Toyota truck.

The all-new 2024 Toyota Tacoma lineup represents a huge step on from its aging predecessor, providing customers with a significantly more comfortable and well-equipped package. Customers will have eight trim levels to choose from when ordering, including SR, SR5, TRD PreRunner, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited, TRD Pro and Trailhunter. Those eight trims are denoted by three different variants of the automaker’s 2.4-liter turbocharged four-pot, which provides 228 hp in standard guise, 278 hp on the mid-grade trims, and 326 hp when paired with the hybrid system in the TRD Pro and Trailhunter versions. Mated to those engines will be either a six-speed manual or an automatic gearbox, though the stick isn’t available on all trims. Toyota still also offers the truck in both 5-ft and 6-ft bed configurations, with rear- and four-wheel-drive powertrain setups available.

The SR trim will serve as the cheapest entry into the 2024 Toyota Tacoma lineup, carrying a base price of $33,700, with destination charges bringing the total to $35,195. That’s currently more than Ford, Chevrolet, and Nissan want for their cheapest mid-sizer. For that money you’ll get a 228 hp variant of the 2.4-liter with an automatic transmission, a double-cab layout with a 5-ft bed, and rear-wheel drive. The fan-favorite TRD Off-Road model will run customers $44,395 including destination with a 5-ft bed and an automatic transmission (4x4 is standard on the trail-focused model.) That’s fairly close to the Ranger Lariat’s MSRP of $48,605 including destination, but is more expensive than the Chevy Colorado Z71’s price of $41,395.

Toyota isn’t quite ready to offer customers the range-topping, hybrid TRD Pro and Trailhunter models. For the time being, the Limited model is the most expensive Tacoma that you can get your hands on. The truck comes with a $54,020 price tag, and that could easily be pushed up with any number of off-road accessories on offer. While more luxurious than trail-oriented, the truck’s price does mean it encroaches on the likes of the Ranger Raptor and Colorado ZR2 models. That might prove to be a difficult sell in such a hotly contested segment. We’ll have to see what that means for the brand’s more hardcore hybrid offerings, but don't expect prices to undercut the Limited. That said, the Tacoma is the legendary mainstay of the segment, and will have no trouble finding its own swath of fans.
