Tim Allen Says Disney Has 'Reached Out' About 'Toy Story 5'

Toy Story 5

At the end of Toy Story 4, we saw the iconic duo of Buzz Lightyear and Woody parting ways. Woody opts to stay with Bo Peep and the "Lost Toys" traveling around without a child to cater to while Buzz and many of the franchise's other stalwarts rejoin their current owner Bonnie. While the fourth installment in the franchise was an obvious hit, grossing more than $1 billion dollars at the box office, it did seem to wrap up the franchise quite nicely. Now, according to Disney's CEO Bob Iger, a fifth Toy Story movie is in the works.

The project still seems to be in its early days, and Pixar famously likes to keep their projects under wraps, but here's everything we know about Toy Story 5:

What is the Toy Story 5 release date?

While Disney's CEO announced that Toy Story 5 is in the works on an earnings call back in February, we haven't got many additional details since. No release date has been announced, and given how long Pixar projects take to make, it seems unlikely we'd see Toy Story 5 until 2025 at the earliest.

How to watch Toy Story 5

Disney hasn't made any official statements regarding Toy Story 5's release, but it seems likely that the film would premiere exclusively in theaters before arriving on Disney+.

Is there a trailer for Toy Story 5?

Not yet. We probably won't get a trailer for the movie for quite some time.

Who is in the Toy Story 5 cast?

No official cast list has been announced, but on a Tonight Show interview with Jimmy Fallon, Tim Allen did say that he and Tom Hanks have been contacted to reprise their roles as Woody and Buzz, respectively. It would be nearly impossible to a fifth Toy Story without the pair of iconic voices behind the lead characters, so it makes sense that they'd be signed on early in development.

What is Toy Story 5 about?

No details regarding the plot have been announced by Disney. While on The Tonight Show, Allen offhandedly stated that he thought some sort of reunion with the toy's original owner, Andy, would be a compelling way to bring the franchise full circle, but he admits that's just his idea and not one he's heard from Disney.

Who is directing Toy Story 5?

No director has been announced for Toy Story 5. Allen did say that a script is in the works, but the screenwriter (or screenwriters) have yet to be announced as well.
