Tim Allen Finally Reveals His Thoughts on ‘Lightyear’ (and He Is Not Holding Back)

We're finally learning Tim Allen's thoughts on Lightyear, and he did not hold back.

In an exclusive interview with Extra, the Home Improvement star was promoting his new show, More Power, when the animated film was brought up. Check out the video below to see his honest review of the flick.

"The short answer is I've stayed out of this. We talk about this many years ago...it came up in one of the sessions like, 'What a fun movie that would be.' We spoke about this with the brass that did the first four movies is not this," he expressed. "It's a whole new team that really had nothing to do with the first movies."

The 69-year-old actor thought it was a live-action film in the works for the beloved character, Buzz Lightyear, but he didn't expect it to be an animated one like the classic films. "There's really no Toy Story Buzz without Woody," he told the publication. "I'm a plot guy. It would seem to be a big adventure story, and as I see it, it's not a big adventure story. It's a wonderful story, it just doesn't seem to have any connection to the toy."

For context, Lightyear is a prequel to the Toy Story franchise and follows the space hero behind the popular toy that Andy grew to love. While Allen voiced the character in the original movies, Chris Evans (Avengers: Endgame, Knives Out) took on the mantel for the new film. This new change stirred controversy, with fans and celebs bashing Disney and Pixar for not casting Allen.

He concluded his statement with, "It has no relationship to Buzz. There's no connection. I wish there was a better connection."

Yikes, looks like he won't be heading to the theaters to see the movie anytime soon.
