From “old money” to “coastal grandmother,” TikTok is home to the creation of trending aesthetics. Now, “Plazacore” (or occasionally “Plaza Princess) is the latest aesthetic steadily growing on the app.
The “Plaza” part of both terms references the iconic Plaza Hotel in New York City. Known for its lavish rooms and high-profile guests, the Plaza Hotel is synonymous with Manhattan, luxury and exclusivity. And who is the fashionista famous for wreaking havoc within its famous halls? Eloise, of course!
Eloise is the main inspiration for this aesthetic with her signature black and white uniform, constantly decked out in accessories and with the attitude to pull it all off.
TikTok user @gab_nyc says that you can “think of [the look] as Eloise all grown up with a little sprinkle of [Blair Waldorf] and, if you’re cultured, [American Girl Doll Samantha Parkington].” She adds that the women embodying this aesthetic are “elegant and eccentric, ladylike with a strong personality. Her outfits are unexpected but still rooted in tradition, like afternoon time and buying out Bergdorf’s.”
User @mere.sch also made a video about the trend and shared how she thinks Eloise would dress in her 20s: “Her uniform would be a flowy dress with puffy sleeves and a frilly collar… Her closet’s filled with ballet flats and mary janes.”
