Rainbow Cake TikTok Drama Gets Out Of Hand@kylieraeallen / @afreebird / TikTok

Birthday cakes have a knack for starting arguments. There are debates about yellow cake vs. chocolate cake, sheet cake vs. cupcakes, buttercream vs. cream cheese frosting. But we have never—and we mean NEVER—seen a birthday-cake fight as heated as the one between a West Virginia baker and her client.

And like nearly all food fallouts these days, the entire ordeal has played out on TikTok.

The sweet shenanigans began when Kylie Allen, baker at Kylie Kakes in Princeton, West Virginia, detailed an experience she had with a client who ordered one of her signature six-layer rainbow cakes. She claimed that the woman complained on social media about the cake she received.

"Today, I had one of the worst client experiences I've ever had since opening the storefront...Upon arrival, she seemed to be really surprised that the cake was covered in sprinkles. We explained to her that all of our signature cakes are decorated this way and covered in sprinkles...She then got super defensive and very rude about the pricing of the cake," she explained.

Well, word travels pretty quickly on TikTok, and the client, Ashleigh Freeman, was soon made aware of Allen's video. In return, she posted her own receipt-filled TikTok.

Freeman's video shows a birthday cake with patches of sprinkles. The text on top, "Happy Birthday Trilby," is struggling in the aesthetics department. She also included screenshots of herself and Allen going back and forth about the pricing (the cake cost $84) and appearance of the cake.

Freeman has received a great deal of support from people on TikTok, but unfortunately this has also led users to give Kylie Kakes terrible reviews on Yelp and Google.

Speaking with Insider, Allen revealed that Freeman's initial beef may have been with the sprinkles themselves, but according to Freeman, it was just "not a quality cake for $84."

"I wasn't expecting it to be quite honest with you...She said that she wasn't aware that it was covered in sprinkles and that her family didn't like sprinkles. Nothing was mentioned about the writing that was on top," Allen said.

Never ones to let a feud pass by without commenting on it, TikTokers didn't hesitate in creating stitches and other videos poking fun of the sprinkle-covered controversy. Here are a few that take the cake:
