Chiefs’ Travis Kelce catches touchdown pass after returning from injury at Minnesota

Chiefs fans got quite the scare just weeks before Halloween.

Tight end Travis Kelce exited Sunday’s game against the Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium for a short while after suffering a non-contact injury.

CBS Sports’ Tracy Wolfson said Kelce, who headed to the locker room shortly before halftime, was going to have an X-ray on his right foot.

Kelce, who turned 34 this past week, was injured after catching a pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Kelce was not hit on this play but went down to the turf.

Kelce got up and made it to the sideline under his own power, but he was clearly frustrated and slammed his helmet to the turf by the bench.

Here is another look at the play.

Kelce was limping as he headed to the Chiefs locker room to have the foot examined by team physicians.

UPDATE: Kelce returned to the Chiefs sideline at the start of the third quarter, and Wolfson reported that he was hoping to play again in the game.

Kelce’s right ankle was heavily taped, and there were two times in which he tried to enter the game on his own. However, he was called back by the coaches each time.

That was on the Chiefs’ first drive of the second half, which ended with an 8-yard touchdown pass from Mahomes to Rashee Rice.

On the Chiefs’ second drive of the third quarter, Kelce was back on the field and he made an incredible catch.

Kelce didn’t appear to be limited upon his return and caught a 4-yard touchdown pass from Mahomes in the third quarter.
