14 months ago, Tiger Woods was involved in a car accident that nearly cost him his right leg.

On Thursday morning, Woods stepped on the course at Augusta National for his first round of competitive golf in over 500 days. The Masters has always been a comfortable home for him, but Tiger found an extra gear.

He finished his first round at one-under par, just four shots off the lead. It was a remarkable round of golf from Tiger – especially considering he wasn’t even sure he’d tee it up.

Unfortunately for him, his second round didn’t have quite the magic of his first. He carded bogeys on four of his first five holes and looked to be in danger of missing the cut.

However, this is Tiger Woods we’re talking about. After carding his fourth bogey to move to three-over par for the tournament, he finished his round two-under from that stretch to finish with a two-over, 74.

That put him at one-over for the tournament.

Woods isn’t as close to the lead as he was when the day started, but all things considered, this has been a tremendous start for him.

In his first competitive action in over 500 days, Woods will make the cut and play the weekend at the Masters.

After suffering serious injuries in a devastating car accident, he really couldn’t ask for more.
