Tiger Woods won’t be playing professional golf anytime soon, as the 15-time major champion continues to recover from the injuries sustained in a car accident in Southern California.

However, Woods’ caddie, Joe LaCava, made the return to professional golf this week.

LaCava, who was on Woods’ bag for the win at the 2019 Masters, is on Fred Couples’ bag at the Principal Charity Classic in Des Moines, Iowa this week.

“Yeah, loopin for Fred in Des Moines,” LaCava told Golfweek earlier this week. “Actually eating pasta watching hockey with him right now. Like nothing has changed 10 years later! Would kill to be working for TW in Columbus [Ohio at the Memorial].”

LaCava made it clear that this won’t be a full-time thing. Instead, he’s “just subbing” on Couples’ bag. However, LaCava admitted that he does miss caddying.

“Of course I miss it,” LaCava said. “Love Fred like a brother.”

Woods, meanwhile, has not had LaCava on his bag since playing with his son, Charlie, at the PNC Championship in December.

The 15-time major champion has made it clear that he has one main goal at the moment: being able to walk on his own.

Professional golf – and LaCava on his bag – will have to wait.

“My physical therapy has been keeping me busy,” Woods told Golf Digest. “I do my routines every day and am focused on my No. 1 goal right now: walking on my own. Taking it one step at a time.”
