Tiffany Haddish is sharing new details about a painful health journey.

Ahead of the release of her new memoir, I Curse You With Joy, the 44-year-old actress revealed that she has endometriosis, which has caused her intense pain and fertility struggles for years. Endometriosis is a condition where the type of tissue that forms the lining of the uterus (the endometrium) is found outside the uterus, according to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG).

"My body be playing tricks on me," she told People. "I'm pretty sure the devil is real, because the first day of my period, no matter what, the devil goes into overdrive. I feel like my life gets turned upside down."

Here’s what Tiffany has shared about her experience, as well as how she’s doing now.

In 2023, she learned she likely had endometriosis after experiencing crippling pain.

Tiffany has been experiencing "debilitating" pain during her period for years, the outlet explained. "I'[d] be like, 'Am I dying?’” Tiffany recalled.

She ultimately saw a doctor last November when she began fainting from the pain's intensity. "She gave me something because I kept passing out," she told People. "I don't talk about it, but people just think I'm sleep everywhere, but I'm passing out because I'll be in so much pain."

"The pain is crazy," she continued. "It feels like somebody is kicking me in my back."

Tiffany was previously told that she had a "dent" in her uterus, which had caused the painful periods. But her doctor ordered an ultrasound, which ultimately pointed towards endometriosis as the cause.

She’s had a fibroid removal to address her symptoms.

To try and fix the pain, Tiffany had a fibroid removal, a surgery to take out noncancerous growths in the uterus. "They've shaved it down," she said.

But now, Tiffany said she just wants to be done with surgery. "I just want them to stay out of [there]," she said.

She’s experienced eight miscarriages.

Tiffany also shared that she's experienced eight miscarriages due to potential endometriosis side effects, calling them "so f*cking devastating."

The actress said that she’s tried really hard to bring a pregnancy to term. “Every time I find out I'm pregnant, I’m like, ‘Don’t drink, don’t smoke, don’t do nothin’," she said. "Even if I don’t really want [the baby], I still try to give it a chance.”

Her last miscarriage happened just last year. “It's like, I won't know why there's so much blood. And then I go to the doctor and they're like, 'Oh, you're miscarrying right now,'” she said. After that, she’ll typically have a dilation and curettage (D&C), a procedure to remove the pregnancy tissue.

At the moment, Tiffany said she’s not sure if she wants to become a mom, adding that “there is a part of me that wants to.”

"I’ve got all this love, I should give it to somebody who can grow with it," she continued.

She uses hormone medication and working out to feel better.

Now, Tiffany said she’s been feeling healthier. “The last two months have not been as bad,” she said, adding that she's been taking hormone medication for her symptoms.

“I just feel drowsy," she said. "But I've been working out even more. And I've gone from 11 days [on my period] to four or five, which is kind of normal, so that's nice."

Tiffany previously lost 40 pounds during quarantine, telling WH that she hits the gym twice a week. "Learning to really make time and schedule time to do that has been quite amazing," she said. "I do a lot of weights, like squats and stuff."

Tiffany’s memoir, I Curse You With Joy, will be released May 7.
