Tickets on sale for inaugural Kentucky Derby Gala

MONROE — Tickets are on sale for the inaugural Kentucky Derby Gala, set for May 4 at St. Mary Catholic Central High School, 108 W. Elm Ave. Doors will open at 5 p.m.

Offered will be heavy hors d'oeuvres, open bar, silent auction, viewing of the Kentucky Derby, raffles, games, gambling tables and live music by The Strangers. Food trucks also will be onsite.

The horse race the Kentucky Derby was founded in 1875; this year is its 150th anniversary.

Attendees are asked to wear derby hats and derby attire.

A limited number of tickets will be sold. Proceeds will benefit SMCC. Tickets are $100 if purchased before April 12 and $125 if purchased by April 26. Guests must be age 21 and older. The gala is a strolling event, but attendees can purchase reserved seating for 10 under an outdoor tent for $250. Also offered are commemorative glasses for $15 each
