BASEBALL

Hortonville 4, Neenah 1

NEENAH - Griffin Jens pitched five hitless innings and struck out seven to lead the Polar Bears over the Rockets.

Kael Konrad pitched the final two innnings and allowed one hit.

Zander Locy, Bo Anderson and Rece Much drove in runs for Hortonville.

The Polar Bears scored three times in the top of the first and added a run in the sixth. The Rockets scored their run in the bottom of the first.

Kimberly 9, Appleton North 2

APPLETON - Sawyer Deering was 2-for-5 with a homer and three RBI and Hudson Wagner added two hits as the Papermakers used a six-run seventh to put the game out of reach.

Kimberly led 1-0 after two and 3-0 after three, before the Lightning struck for a run in the fifth. North added a run in the seventh to close out the scoring.

Conner Olson picked up the win, pitching five innings in relief, allowing four hits, two earned runs with four walks and three strikeouts.

Little Chute 9, Denmark 0

LITTLE CHUTE - Charlie VandenBurgte allowed three hits while striking out 11 over six innings in the Mustangs’ win over the Vikings.

The loss ended Denmark’s 25-game North Eastern Conference winning streak and 21-game overall winning streak.

Little Chute scored five runs in the first inning with the help of three walks and two hit batters

Brock Gardner had two hits for Little Chute, which finished with six walks and three hit batters.

Ebyn LaForest had two hits for Denmark.

Both teams are now 2-1 in the NEC.

Chilton 10, Sheboygan Falls 0

CHILTON - Ryan Pierquet pitched five innings, struck out eight and allowed only three hits to lead the Tigers to the five-inning victory.

Hunter Rolbiecki had two hits, including a double, and drove in a run for Chilton. Pierquet drove in two runs. Rayden Wagner and Peyton Juckem also drove in runs.

Shiocton 14, Manawa 1

MANAWA - The Chiefs erupted for eight runs in the fourth inning and five more in the fifth inning in the win over the Wolves.

In the fourth inning, Shiocton got two doubles from Blake Carton and one double from both James Mutchie and Bennett Schmidt.

Ty Marcks got the win for Shiocton, allowing two hits and an unearned run while striking out eight.

Spencer Strebe took the loss for Manawa.

SOFTBALL

Kimberly 10, Appleton North 4

APPLETON - The Papermakers pounded out 13 hits against the Lightning in the Fox Valley Association win.

Paige Wyngaard led Kimberly with three hits, while Sophie Hermus and Brecken Ludtke both had two hits.

Kimberly pitchers Paige Schreck and Bella Ellestad struck out seven Appleton North batters while allowing three hits and three walks.

Seymour 5, Menasha 2

SEYMOUR - The Thunder scored three times in the third and twice in the fourth to erase an early one-run deficit en route to the Bay Conference win.

Addison Wery doubled in two runs, Morgan Miller drove in two runs and Aubrey Hartleben drove in another to pace Seymour.

For Menasha, Hannah Neubert’s double in the second scored one run, while Alyssa Rusch’s pinch-hit home run on the first pitch of the seventh closed out the scoring.

Gillian Herrala picked up the win for Seymour, pitching seven innings and allowing four hits, two earned runs, three walks and four strikeouts.

St. Mary Catholic 11, Hilbert 1

HILBERT - The Zephyrs took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a Nevaeh Saringer home run and never trailed in the win over the Wolves.

In the Zephyrs’ four-run third inning, Sammie Weiss, Jaylyn Akey and Ainslie Liddy each singled in runs with an error scoring another run.

St. Mary Catholic plated five runs in the seventh inning on a wild pitch, a two-run triple by Addison Moder, another wild pitch and a steal of home of Audrey Webber.

Emily Vogel led St. Mary Catholic with three hits, including a double, and two runs scored. Saringer had three hits, including a home run, and drove in two runs. Liddy had three hits. Weiss and Webber had two hits.

Saringer got the win for St. Mary Catholic, allowing four hits while striking out eight over seven innings.

Alandra Grenzer took the loss for Hilbert.

Boys basketball all-area team: Neenah's Brady Corso chosen Post-Crescent player of the year in boys basketball for the Appleton area

Girls basketball all-area team: Neenah's Allie Ziebell is named Post-Crescent player of the year in girls basketball for Appleton area

GIRLS SOCCER

Appleton West 4, Manitowoc 2

APPLETON - Addyson Knoebel scored two goals, Clara Tibbets added a goal and an assist, and Lilah Pitterle scored a goal to help power the Terrors past the Ships in nonconference action.

Also adding assists for Appleton West were Kami Beyersdorf and Addyson Edwards.

Appleton East 2, De Pere 1

DE PERE - Addison Wreath scored two goals for the Patriots in the nonconference win.

Maiya Wheaton and Marley Wreath had assists for the Patriots, who improved their record to 4-0.

Marinette 5, Waupaca 5

MARINETTE - Chloe Seymour had two goals to help the Marines battle the Comets to a tie.

Josie Smerchek and Sierra Schreiner both had one goal and two assists for Marinette. Kylie Kunick had a goal.

Serenity Vanpool had nine saves in goal for Marinette.

Luxemburg-Casco 1, Freedom 1

LUXEMBURG - Claire Marohl’s goal helped the Spartans tie the Irish.

Tabi Lemens had five saves in goal for Luxemburg-Casco.
