Thursday's Fantastic Five MetroWest and Milford area athletes shined on a gloomy day

A little soggy, but no worse for wear. Thursday's MetroWest and Milford area Fantastic Five high school athletes made the best of a gloomy day and led their teams to victory.

They showcased versatility, scored in bunches and deftly piloted their offenses.

Without further ado, the Fantastic Five from April 11, 2024:

JEREMEY AUREN, Framingham baseball

He threw five shutout innings in a 10-3 win over Natick on Thursday. Auren also was 1-for-3 leading off, scoring two runs with two RBIs and two walks.

ALEX DINSDALE, Ashland boys lacrosse

He fired in six goals for the Clockers in a 9-7 win over Holliston. It helped Ashland improve to 2-3 (2-3 Tri-Valley).

TAYLOR PAYNE, Westborough girls lacrosse

She put away four goals for the Rangers in a 13-10 win over Tahanto. Regan Kittredge added a hat trick, while Lucy Petralia had three assists and a goal for Westborough (5-1). Rangers goalie Elizabeth Litman stopped 12 shots.

CALEB PEREIRA, Marlborough boys volleyball

The setter controlled the Panthers' 3-1 win over Wachusett with 44 assists. Nick Andrade put down 16 kills for Marlborough (5-1, 3-1 Mid-Wach A), who dropped the first set 25-22 before winning the next three 25-19, 25-21, 27-25.

OLIVIA SCHULTZ, Natick softball

She homered twice in an 18-8 win over Medfield. Schultz had four RBIs for the Redhawks (2-1).

Baseball

GRAFTON 10, Blackstone Valley 8: Corey Magill dropped in three hits for the Beavers (2-1) and added an RBI. BVT's Alex Vosburgh tripled and had two RBIs.

Softball

BLACKSTONE VALLEY TECH 18, Grafton 6: Brooke Gniadek scored four runs on a 3-for-4 day. Andreanna DiStefano singled and tripled for BVT (2-0).

WELLESLEY 15, Waltham 2: Ryan Renzella and Margaret Redgate each had two hits, scored two runs and added two RBIs for the Raiders (2-2).

Boys lacrosse

Freshman firepower: Framingham boys lacrosse seeing results trying to turn a weakness into a strength.

BELLINGHAM 18, Norton 2: Freshman attacker Charlie Baker scored four times and added an assist . Ryan Austin (two assists) and Josh Davis (assist) each collected a hat trick for Bellingham (3-2, 1-2 TVL Small).

DOVER-SHERBORN 16, Dedham 1: Felix Geisen saved seven shots for the Raiders (3-1, 3-0 Tri-County).

ALGONQUIN 8, Grafton 7: Ben Yosca scored the game-winner with 3 minutes, 7 seconds remaining for the Titans (3-1), his second of the contest. Algonquin's Garrett Willwert added a hat trick.

Girls lacrosse

ASHLAND 10, Holliston 8: Morgan Dubanowitz led the Clockers (2-2) with four goals. Ashland's Anna Magennis (two assists) and Julia Schreiber scored two goals each, while Paige Tripp had a goal and an assist. Holliston's Kayla Freedman and Kaitlyn Quealy found the net twice each.

TANTASQUA 13, Hopedale 9: Emma Gosselin, Emily Frohn, Molly Gosselin and Mackenzie Viens each scored twice for the Blue Raiders (1-3).

NORTHBRIDGE 20, Hudson 9: Katie Perusse and Layne Thomason each had four goals for the Hawks.

GRAFTON 15, Algonquin 5: Grace Chiota tallied twice for the Titans (1-2).

Boys volleyball

"It's a crazy streak": Needham boys volleyball wins 76th straight match after defeating Natick

LINCOLN-SUDBURY 3, O'Bryant : Kieran Fagan put down 12 kills with four aces and two blocks for the Warriors in a 25-16, 25-15, 25-12 win. L-S' Timmy Kearney pushed out 33 assists with three blocks and an ace, while Sebastiano D'Ambrosio added nine kills and a block. Ryan Heberling slammed down six kills with three aces for the Warriors, and Tim Langille (four kills) contributed five blocks.
