Thursday Seacoast roundup: Winnacunnet girls lax beats rival, PHS boys win, more scores

EXETER - Senior Shea Graham had five goals and the Winnacunnet High School girls lacrosse team extended its win streak to 12 with a 14-10 win at Division I Exeter on Thursday.

Winnacunnet, which went undefeated in its Division II regular-season play, improved to 17-1 overall, while Exeter is 10-8.

Sky Mace added four goals for the Warriors, while McKinley Fowler had three goals and had two assists. Sarah Rademacher and Reese Gandt each had one goal for the Warriors, who got nine saves from goalie Cadence Oleniak.

Izzy Steiner led Exeter with five goals, while Sophia Wilhelm had two goals and Karli Scherpf, Anna Lieberman and Phoebe Christenson all had one. Exeter goalies Lilyan Blood and Molly Byrne each had four saves.

SOUTH BERWICK, Maine - Sarah Theriault had four goals and one assist, and Eva Hersey had three goals and two assists for Marshwood (6-7) in this Class A win.

Maddy Poitras added two goals and three assists for the Hawks, while Hadley Prewitt had a goal, and Liv Drake had an assist.

Marshwood goalie Leight Twohig had three saves, and Lila Manter, Chloe Walker, Nora Dockham, Lana Emery and Kayley Donovan all starred defensively.

PORTLAND, Maine - Jacey Johnson, Keira Alessi and Sarah Carven each scored two goals for Traip Academy (8-5) in this Class C loss.

PORTSMOUTH - Nick Smith had four goals and one assist, and Sam Biddle and Henry Purcell each had three goals for Portsmouth (16-0) in a Division II win.

Lucas Patten had two goals and two assists for the Clippers, while Briggs Catino, Connor Williams, Thijs Beelen, Sawyer Bouvier and Cortland Barr all had one. Alec Lawton had two assists for the Clippers, and goalie AJ Craig had six saves.

Defensively, Portsmouth's Andrew Timerman and Max Russman starred.

YORK, Maine - Quinn Walenta had a team-high nine points for York (11-1) in a Class B win.

Evan Anastas had seven points for the Wildcats, while Haydn Forbes had six and Nick Hoy had five.

PORTSMOUTH - Patrick Bancroft went five innings, allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits, and struck out five as Portsmouth improved to 10-8 with this Division I win.

Jake Carlisle homered and had four RBIs for the Clippers, while Ryan Clark had one RBI and scored three runs. Bancroft, Gar Hindle (run, RBI), and Joe Zingariello (run) all had two hits, while Tucker Huskey (two RBIs, two runs) had one.

MANCHESTER - Jackson Larck had two hits and three RBIs, and Miles Pratt had two hits and two RBIs for Winnacunnet, which won its seventh straight game and improved to 12-7 with this Division I win at Gill Stadium.

Jones Vicinus had two hits and one RBI for the Warriors, who broke the game open with a seven-run seventh inning. Connor Fowler (hit, RBI), Alex Santora (hit, RBI, two walks), Brady Thompson (two hits, run), Mason McDonald (hit, two runs, three walks) and Cash O'Hara (RBI) all contributed.

Fowler, in his first varsity start, allowed three hits over four scoreless innings, earning the win. Harvey Reynoso threw three no-hit innings, allowing an unearned run.

SANFORD, Maine - Charlie Hudson struck out seven and allowed three hits and one run in a complete-game Class A South win for Marshwood (10-5) at Goodall Park.

Hudson, Silas Reimels, Liam Tiernan, Riley Parnham, and Brady Isabelle each had a hit for the Hawks. Isabelle and Michael Sbrizza had the Marshwood RBIs.

DOVER - Cai Summers' RBI single scored Andrew Earwood (three hits, four runs) from second as PCA walked off with this Division IV win, improving to 12-4.

Freshman Grady Howe had three hits, including a home run and double and two RBIs. Howe also earned the win, going 2 1/3 innings, allowing one run on one hit.

Kian Littlefield had two hits and two RBIs in the win.
