Thursday Seacoast roundup: Exeter girls, Winncunnet boys track win; STA girls lax rolls

EXETER – Owen Janetos and Oliver Duffy each won two events as the Winnacunnet High School boys track team won a three-team meet against host Exeter and Manchester Central.

In total, the Warriors won 10 events, including both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays, and scored 96 points. Exeter (85) and Manchester Central (30) placed second and third, respectively.

Janetos won both the 100 meters (11.49 seconds) and the 200 (23.3).

Duffy won the 110 hurdles (16.10) and long jump (20 feet, 10 inches).

Other Winnacunnet wins came from Ryan Zumbach (400, 51.51), Ethan Gahm (3,200, 11:57.64), Ryan Jamison (300 hurdles, 42.1) and Wyatt Patterson (pole vault, 13-0).

Exeter’s Brady Rogers won both the high jump (5-10) and javelin (150-10).

Exeter had other wins from Gavin Malark (800, 2:04.98), Spencer Mann (1,600, 4:47.76), Brady Rogers (high jump, 5-10), Thoren Kersten-Guiler (triple jump, 40-7.5), Eric Menger (shot put, 42-8.5).

Exeter’s Ben Casey was second in the 300 hurdles (44.29) and third in the 110 hurdles (17.2).

Other top-three showings from Exeter included Kellen Bateman (shot put, second, 40-8), Brodie Proulx (400, second, 53.16), Steven Bartell (long jump, second, 18-6; triple jump, third, 37-7), Thomas Eastwood (pole vault, second, 10-0), Evan Nicholas (javelin, third, 131-0); Daniel Batstone (100, third, 11.66), Nate Mikulsky (400, third, 54.03; pole vault, third, 9-6), Marcus Clark (1,600, third, 4:48.08), and Kersten-Guiler (long jump, third, 18-5).

BOYS TRACK

Dover wins three team meet

DOVER – The Green Wave won six events, running away to victory at a three-team meet with a score of 75.

Concord (70) and Bishop Guertin (16) placed second and third, respectively.

Dover wins came from Travis Benincasa (300 hurdles, 47.79), Caden Mourgenos (400, 55.6), Clayton Johnson (800, 2:08.65), Brady McInness (long jump, 19-8) and Sam Grube (triple jump, 35-7.5).

Dover’s 4x400-meter relay team, consisting of Johnson, Will Wheatley, Carmelo Berdecia and Julian Black, placed first.

Mourgenos was second in the 200 (24.55) and third in the 100 (12.15), and Black was second in the long jump (16-6) and third in the triple jump (33-1.5).

Other top-three showings from Dover came from Benincasa (110 hurdles, second, 17.98), Wheatley (300 hurdles, second, 50.18), Brandon Legrand (400, second, 59.68), Berdecia (800, second, 2:09.97), Ethan Fiorenza (1,600, second, 5:02.95), Kyle Merrill (discus, second, 122-2), Grube (high jump, second, 5-8), Robert Ragazzo (1,600, third, 5:42.89), and Connor Lazarz (discus, third, 105-11).

GIRLS TRACK

Exeter wins three-team meet

EXETER – The Blue Hawks won four events and scored 86 points, beating Winnacunnet (61) and Manchester Central (6) in a three-team meet.

Exeter’s Autumn Fabiano won both the shot put (32-02) and the discus (95-09.5).

Exeter also received wins from Eli Cross in the 800 (2:28.53), and Alexys Rogers in the triple jump (29-08.25).

Sydney MacVicar was second in the 300 hurdles (53.2) and third in both the 100 hurdles (18.71) and long jump (13-09.75).

Other top-three performances from Exeter came from Rayna Thompson (400, second, 1:01.11), Alexis Paterna (1,600, second, 5:27.23), Martelle McBride (long jump, second, 14-10.75), Colleen Bartell (triple jump, second, 29-06), Molly Baut (pole vault, second, 6-6), Lucille Beem (shot put, second, 30-05), Josslyn Ulven (discus, second, 79-04), Clara Knab (400, third, 1:02.37), Amber Orleans (800, third, 2:35.13), Jessica Melick (high jump, third, 4-4; triple jump, third, 28-8.75), Acadia Lessard (pole vault, third, 6-0), Samantha Gutowski (discus, third, 78-10) and Nicole Melick (javelin, third, 60-0).

For Winnacunnet, Hayden Adams won both the 100 hurdles (17.28) and long jump (14-11.5), while Carly Eaton won the 3,200 (14:12.01), Mia Lantaigne won the 100 (13.4) and Charlotte Koutalidis won the 1,600 in a school-record time of 5:06.67.

Dover places second in three-team meet

DOVER - Anique Poulin won the 800 (2:21) and Izi McIntyre won the 1,600 (5:42) for Dover in a three-team meet.

Concord won with a team score of 115, while Dover (39) and Bishop Guertin (15) was second and third, respectively.

Brooke Kelly was second in the high jump (4-9), pole vault (7-6) and javelin (79-5).

GIRLS LACROSSE

Windham 7

WINDHAM – Sky Mace had three goals and one assist as Winnacunnet improved to 5-0 with this Division II win.

Emmy Granger, Shea Graham and McKinley Fowler all had two goals for the Warriors, and Elle Emery had one.

Graham and Emery both had two assists, and Mace, Granger, and Fowler all had one.

Winnacunnet goalie Cadence Oleniak had 12 saves.

NORTH SUTTON – Charlotte DeTolla had five goals, Cat Vetter four and Megan Leahy three for St. Thomas Aquinas in this Division III win.

Reece Anderson, Julia Bryan, Kat Dornan, Lizzy Holden and Izzy Taylor all had two goals for the Saints.

STA goalie Brea Barker had two saves, while Tahlia Parmelee and Julianna Grella starred defensively.

EXETER - The Blue Hawks scored three runs in the first inning, eight in the second, one in the fourth, and three in the fifth in this Division I win.

Summer LeClerc had four hits, three RBIs and scored four runs for Exeter (3-1), while Maddy Mann (three hits, two RBIs, two runs), Annie Christiana (three hits, three runs), Madi Page (two hits, three RBIs, two runs), Kristen Bickford (two hits, three RBIs), Dejah Rondeau (hit, RBI) and Mykenna Whittier (hit, RBI) led the offense.

Marshwood 7

Kennebunk 2

KENNEBUNK, Maine - Emily Hester had three hit and two RBIs, and also struck out nine and allowing just four hits over seven innings, leading Marshwood to this Class A South win.

Lindsay Bennett added two doubles and scored two runs for the Hawks, while Piper Catanese and Laurali Shisler both had one hit.

KINGSTON - Irina Steinberg (No. 1, 8-2), Anna Seifert (No. 2, 8-0), Zoe Brook (No. 3, 8-3), Julia Behre (No. 4, 8-3) Morgan Hoyt (No. 5, 8-1) and Maggie Wade (No. 6, 8-0) all won in singles as St. Thomas Aquinas earned this rain-shortened Division III match.
