Thursday Literary Club will host 100th birthday party on May 11 in Ravenna

The Thursday Literary Club will celebrate 100 years of reading with a birthday party at 2 p.m. May 11 in the Haymaker Room at Reed Memorial Library in Ravenna. The public is invited.

The club started meeting March 7, 1924, when Elizabeth Haymaker invited 15 ladies to her home on Highland Avenue to promote intellectual activities and friendship. The club still meets regularly on the second Thursday of each month, with 15 active members gathering at Kent Ridge for lunch and book discussion.
