Thunderbolts gets new release date in MCU release shake-up
Marvel has brought forward the release date for its Thunderbolts movie, as part of a wider MCU calendar shake-up.
According to Deadline, the movie has been brought forward from its initial July release date to May 2, 2025.
This isn't the first time the movie has changed release date. Originally set to premiere on December 20, 2024, the movie was delayed by nearly a year due to the now ended WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
The release change comes amid a shake-up of Marvel's release calendar, switching dates with the upcoming Fantastic Four movie that will now be released on July 25, 2025.

The franchise shared the news alongside a cast update on Instagram, confirming that The Last of Us star Pedro Pascal would be joining Napoleon's Vanessa Kirby, The Bear's Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Stranger Things actor Joseph Quinn as the superhero family.
Directed by WandaVision's Matt Shakman, Fantastic Four will see Pascal star as Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Kirby as Sue Storm (the Invisible Woman), Quinn as Johnny Storm (the Human Torch) and Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (the Thing).
Meanwhile, Thunderbolts will be inspired by the comics of the same name, seeing a group of Marvel anti-heroes recruited to go on missions for the government.
The film will see the return of previous MCU stars Florence Pugh (as Yelena Belova), Wyatt Russell (as John Walker, aka US Agent), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine) and David Harbour (as Red Guardian).

They are joined by Hannah John-Kamen (as Ghost), Sebastian Stan (as James 'Bucky' Barnes, aka The Winter Soldier) and Olga Kurylenko (as Taskmaster).
Indiana Jones star Harrison Ford is also slated to appear in the film as General Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross ahead of his appearance in Captain America: New World Order.
Previously cast stars Steven Yeun and Ayo Edebiri have left the project due to scheduling conflict. The film is currently set to begin production in March or April this year.
Thunderbolts will be released in cinemas on May 2, 2025.
