Isaiah Joe, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander lead OKC Thunder past Golden State Warriors

SAN FRANCISCO — Andrew Wiggins took his chance on him. Jonathan Kuminga, too.

But there was no remedy for Isaiah Joe on Thursday night in Oklahoma City’s 128-109 win over the Warriors at the Chase Center.

Or its shooting. Or its role players. Unfortunately for Golden State, which was without Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, Joe just happened to be the perfect combination of both.

When the Warriors attempted their third quarter-thing, cutting OKC’s double-digit lead to a couple possessions, there was Joe with a tight-window 3 that doubled as a slap in the face.

And in the fourth quarter, he really came alive. A heat check 3 here. A sidestep around Wiggins there. All told, he finished 7 of 7 from deep with 23 timely points.

Beyond him? Rookie Cason Wallace, who added 10 points, continued to look further along as a role player than he should. Kenrich Williams added six points, five boards and 18 timely minutes.

Josh Giddey finished with 19 points and six rebounds, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander managed 24 points after 21 shots. It was OKC’s role players that seemingly upheld it on Thursday.
