Throwback: Sloane Stephens Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Photos

The 2021 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue features a tennis superstar on the cover. Naomi Osaka, 23, is one of three cover models for this year’s edition of the historic magazine issue.

Osaka made history with her photoshoot, becoming the first Japanese and Haitian woman to land the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue cover.

She is not the first tennis star to be featured in the magazine, though. Several notable tennis stars have posed for the magazine over the years, from Maria Sharapova to Genie Bouchard to Caroline Wozniacki.

Sloane Stephens is also on that list. The 28-year-old tennis star posed for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue back in 2018.

Sports Illustrated Swimsuit released a behind-the-scenes look at Stephens’ shoot. It features some adorable moments between the tennis star and her mom.

Stephens, a Florida native, won the U.S. Open in 2017. That is her only Grand Slam victory, though she’s come close in many others. Stephens made the finals of the French Open in 2018, the semifinals of the Australian Open in 2013 and the quarterfinals of Wimbledon in 2013.

The 2021 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue, meanwhile, was released earlier this summer.
