Line of Duty and Save Me producer World Productions has released some first-look photos of new thriller series The Gathering.

Consisting of six episodes and written by author Helen Walsh, this Channel 4 show centers on working-class Liverpudlian student Kelly (played by newcomer Eva Morgan), who is brutally attacked at a rave on a tidal islet.

Saltburn actress Sadie Soverall plays Kelly's gymnastics teammate Jessica, while Boiling Point's Vinette Robinson and Luther's Warren Brown are Kelly's mother and father.

A detailed synopsis adds: "The Gathering is ultimately a whodunnit – or, in this case – a-why-done it.

"Focusing on a group of disparate teenagers and their parents, each character has a motive for attacking Kelly.

"An accomplished gymnast, on the National Team pathway, Kelly is committed to her strict training schedule but finds freedom and liberation in the joyous, unregulated world of free-running.

"Each episode privileges a different character's lens to give insight into the respective worlds of these teenagers and their families and allows the viewer to speculate who committed the crime."

Teasing the project back when it was first announced, novelist Walsh shared: "I wanted to write a twisty, state-of-the-nation take on Philip Larkin's notorious 'they f**k you up' observation about parents and kids.

"In an era where the micro-managing of children's lives has become the new normal, The Gathering throws today's surveillance parenting into sharp focus and asks who is really to blame when our kids f**k up.

"I'm thrilled to be working with the excellent team at Channel 4 and World Productions and look forward to seeing the kinetic worlds of free-running and tumbling gymnastics brought to our screens."

The Gathering is coming soon to Channel 4.
