Three new places to dine open this week: One each in Macon, Warner Robins and Byron

Looking for a new spot to relax and unwind while sipping on a good wine and enjoying some choice meats and cheese?

Speaking of healthy, why not try a coconut curry tofu with rice and beans served with a vegetable salad and plantains at another new spot?

All three of these new places open this week in Middle Georgia: One in downtown Macon, the other in Warner Robins and the third in Bryon.

Philosophie — This new upscale wine bar in downtown Macon that offers top-notch wine selections and build-your-own charcuterie boards celebrates its grand opening week starting Tuesday, on the heels of its Friends and Family event Friday and Saturday.

What sets this new gathering spot apart is its carefully curated wine selection and charcuterie boards where diners can select from rotating meats and cheeses, noted partner/co-owner Nick Rizkalla. Geared to offer women a place to relax and unwind, the space also offers a soft casual chic vibe. The wine and charcuterie bar at 616 Poplar St. is open 2-9 Tuesday to Thursday, 2-10 Friday and 12-10 Saturday.

Essential Bowls —This new acai bowl restaurant celebrates its grand opening Tuesday at 115 Margie Drive, Suite A, Warner Robins, where Cake ‘n Shake is located. Essential Bowls is a new concept for Cake ‘n Shake owners Vincent and Lakeisha Clayton. The new spot also offers oatmeal bowls, 100% natural smoothies, avocado toast, chicken salad sandwiches and more.

Worth noting: Sunday is the last day to get a Cake ‘n Shake extreme milkshake at the Warner Robins location before the switch to Essential Bowls. Hours for Essential Bowls: 8-7 M-F, 8-6 Saturday and 9-6 Sunday. The Claytons may reopen a Cake ‘n Shake in another location in Warner Robins in the future.

Roots Plant Based Cafe — This new vegan cafe that offers plant based meat substitutes with entrees such as brown stew, sweet and sour chicken and Jamaican Jerk chicken opens Monday at at 100 Hamilton Pointe Drive, Suite 155.

Also served up with meat substitutes are Chicken Alfredo, beef or chicken burgers, a chicken or meatloaf sub, salads, wraps as well as soups like Southern lentil and desserts like banana cake. Sides range from mac and cheese to plantains to potato salad. The cafe also offers fresh fruit juices and smoothies. Hours are 11-7 Monday through Thursday. The number is 478-219-2415.
