Things to do: Volunteer to help clean up four miles along Muskingum and Licking rivers

Have some fun and help the environment by joining Pea Ohana Watersports and its partners for this year's river cleanup. This year's event will focus on a 4-mile stretch of the Licking and Muskingum rivers, from the Dillon Falls public access point to Putnam Landing in Zanesville. Participants can choose between on-water cleanup in kayaks or canoes, or contribute to efforts on dry land at Dillon Falls Park, Historic Lock #10 Canal Park, Lee Eppley Park, Confluence Park, the Y-Bridge, and Putnam Landing Park.

Shuttle services will be available for volunteers bringing their own kayaks and canoes at no cost. Additionally, the Muskingum County Community Foundation has sponsored free kayak rentals to the first 20 registrants. Regular kayak rentals will be available for $15 each after the initial 20 slots are filled.

Partnering with Pea Ohana is River Rangers International, Ohio Department of Natural Resources, American Rivers, City of Zanesville, Discover Diving and Paintball and Muskingum Riverway Advocacy Council. The 2023 event earned the Muskingum Water and Soil Non-Agriculture Award and recognition from the American National River Cleanup.
