I visited several grocery stores looking for frozen pumpkin pie—a task that proved more difficult than one would think. In the end, I ended up with five different frozen pumpkin pies that you're most likely to find at the supermarket. The Village PieMaker
Your guests might think you made this one yourself, and that's because all of these frozen pies are handmade. "No canned stuff" is the motto of The Village PieMaker, which has grown from a small one-person operation to a large nationwide business.
This pumpkin pie had by far the best crust, which testers said was buttery and flaky. While some noted that it's a little mushy or "mousse-like," most people enjoyed this pie, its mild flavor, and good amount of spice. It also has no artificial preservatives.
The Maine Pie Co.
This pumpkin pie probably received the most positive comments for its flavorful filling. Testers wrote that it was the well-balanced, creamy, delicious, and that it "tastes like an authentic pumpkin pie."
But it takes second place because many didn't care for the crust, which happens to be gluten-free. The Maine Pie Co. is known for its gluten-free crusts, so if you're looking for an extra flaky, traditional crust, this one might take getting used to.
Mrs. Smith's
The Mrs. Smith's Pumpkin Pie is made without high fructose corn syrup and no artificial dyes or sweeteners. "10/10 I like the spice," wrote one commenter. While some liked the consistency and sweetness of the, others wrote that the filling was watery and had a "baby food vibe."
But you might like it for the nostalgia—another tester called it the "pie of my childhood."

Testers didn't love the flavor or mushy texture of the Sara Lee Pumpkin Pie. But if you like a pie on the sweeter side, this one might be for you. It's worth noting that this one has no artificial flavors or colors and is clear of high fructose corn syrup.
Marie Callender's
While many testers noted the great consistency of the Marie Callender's Pumpkin Pie, the flavor didn't stand up against the rest. Some noted that it had an artificial taste and was too sweet.
