There's Danger Cooking in the Kitchen on 'Magnum, P.I.' (Exclusive)

Tim Kang

Tim Kang plays hardnosed Honolulu PD Detective Gordon Katsumoto, who over the seasons has softened a little bit in his by-the-book attitude on Magnum P.I., thanks in big part to his relationship with Magnum (Jay Hernandez) and Juliet Higgins (Perdita Weeks), which has developed into a friendship.

Still, Magnum and Juliet are surprised when they have a favor to ask of him—and he agrees without any discussions or convincing needed.

Parade has an exclusive look at this clip from Wednesday night’s episode, which goes like this:

Katsumoto: “Undercover at Chez Aloha?”

Higgins: “I know it’s a lot to ask and it’s probably not what you want to be doing on your day off.”

Katsumoto: “Yeah, I’m in.”

Higgins: “Really?”

Katsumoto: “You two want me to work as a chef in one of the top restaurants in the country and all I have to do is ask the staff a few questions?”

Magnum: “That’s it.”

And then we cut to Katsumoto donning his white chef’s coat, unpacking his knives, tying on his head bandana, and chopping daikons for his job in Chez Aloha’s kitchen.

The reason that Magnum and Higgins decided to try to enlist Katsumoto to go undercover is a chef at the high-end restaurant went missing, and they know that cooking is Katsumoto’s happy place.

Also, in Wednesday night’s “Appetite for Danger” episode, Kumu (Amy Hill) works with Cade (Martin Martinez) at the Cultural Center, confronting one of America’s darker chapters – the internment of Japanese Americans in the wake of Pearl Harbor.

Magnum, P.I. airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
