Texas' Xavier Worthy's gear from record-setting 40-time placed into Hall of Fame

No matter what Texas receiver Xavier Worthy does going forward, he'll be remembered for at least one thing he did in the NFL.

Well, right before he got in the NFL, anyways. Worthy's cleats and jersey are headed to Canton, Ohio where they will be placed into the Pro Football Hall of Fame to memorialize the record-setting 4.21 40-yard dash he ran at the NFL combine.

Worthy, who declared for the NFL draft after Texas' loss in the College Football Playoff, isn't currently projected as a first-round pick but he likely helped his draft stock with his workout. He ran a 4.25 on his first attempt, but bet on himself and ran again to break former Washington receiver John Ross' record of 4.22.

Simply running fast isn't guarantee that Worthy will make it in the NFL. There have been plenty of others incredibly athletic players who ran in the 4.2s and proceeded to crash out as a pro. However, at the very least, the former Longhorn will have his career at Texas to lean on and a spot in the Hall of Fame.
