Texas Tech basketball learns another non-conference opponent for 2024-25 season

Another non-conference game has been added to the Texas Tech basketball team's 2024-25 schedule.

The Red Raiders are set to host DePaul on Dec. 4 as part of the Big 12-Big East Battle, which was announced Thursday. This is the final year of the partnership between the two conferences as it stands.

This will be the second time Tech and DePaul have played each other as part of this event after the Red Raiders visited the Blue Demons in Chicago in 2019, a game DePaul won 65-60 in overtime. Overall, DePaul is 3-0 all-time against Texas Tech while the Red Raiders have a 1-3 record in Big 12-Big East Battle games after falling at Butler last season.

Texas Tech is up to four announced non-conference games with the DePaul contest being the second home game, both of which are against power conference teams. The Red Raiders are set to host Texas A&M on the Friday of Thanksgiving weekend (Nov. 29), which is part of a busy holiday weekend slate for Texas Tech athletics.

Additionally, the Red Raiders will head to Brooklyn to take part in the Legends Classic Nov. 21-22 where they will play two games. Other teams part of the event include Texas, Syracuse and Saint Joseph's.

Grant McCasland is going into his second season as Texas Tech's head coach. The Red Raiders finished 23-11 overall and tied for third in the Big 12 standings in his first year at the helm.

DePaul has a new head coach in Christ Holtman, who takes over the Blue Demon program after being fired at Ohio State earlier this year. He inherits a program that went 3-29 last year, including an 0-20 mark in Big East play.
