Texas school shooting victims were all barricaded inside a single classroom with gunman: police

The 21 victims killed at a Texas elementary school Tuesday were all in a single fourth-grade classroom, according to police.
Accused gunman Salvador Ramos barricaded himself inside the Robb Elementary School room Tuesday morning and opened fire, Lt. Chris Olivarez, spokesperson for the Texas Department for Public Safety, told CNN Wednesday.
It’s unclear how many people were in the classroom at the time, but 19 students and two teachers were killed. Local hospitals are also treating multiple wounded victims.

“Just goes to show you the complete evil from this shooter,” Olivarez said.
Ramos, 18, was wearing “a tactical vest carrier with no ballistic panels; so typically those type of carriers are used by tactical teams, SWAT teams, where they can place magazines, extra ammunition inside those carriers and be able to move in a tactical formation,” Olivarez told CNN.
Officials said Ramos shot his grandmother Tuesday morning, then drove off and crashed his car outside Robb Elementary School, where he evaded police and barged into the school. He was eventually shot and killed by law enforcement.
Among the victims was teacher Eva Mireles, who died trying to protect her students, her aunt told the New York Times.
Nineteen students, ranging from 8 to 10, were killed as well.
Local Uvalde hospitals reported Wednesday that multiple students are still being treated.
