Texas Business Hall of Fame inducts a former NBA superstar and producer of Yellowstone

Recent Austinite and businessman Joe Gebbia is one of the six individuals included in the Texas Business Hall of Fame’s class of 2024. The co-founder of Airbnb has a unique history in that he started his professional path as an artist studying graphic design and industrial design before transitioning to entrepreneurship.

Gebbia studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, Brown University and MIT. After Graduating he moved to San Francisco where he worked as a designer for Chronicle Book. Gebbia’s breakthrough came in 2008 when he Co-Founded Airbnb in his living room.

Since then, Airbnb has spread to nearly 7 million listings in over 220 countries. Since Airbnb’s success, Gebbia started his latest venture, Samara, which produces fully customized, factory-made homes designed for rental income, a place to house family, work from home, or pursue an interest.

Gebbia moved into his $10 million Austin home in 2020 and has been residing in Texas' capitol ever since.
