Back in our elementary school days, we were excited to have an under-the-tongue thermometer tell us we were staying home sick. But times have changed, and no-touch thermometers are coming in handier than we ever thought.

No-touch thermometers are flying off the shelves for when you need a quick temp check. If you are in the market for one, over 150 Home Depot shoppers are rating and reviewing the best-selling iHealth No-Touch Thermometer.

Now, when I say “no touch,” you do have to physically touch the device. However, you don’t have to directly apply the thermometer on your skin to read your temperature accurately.

A series of three sensors reads your temperature in mere seconds. An infrared sensor collects data per second from the forehead, while two other sensors account for distance and the environment to ensure your readings are accurate. Within one second, this thermometer for baby, kids and adults captures a potential fever, with an LED screen displaying the reading in light or complete darkness. Plus, rather than hearing a loud beeping sound, a light vibration will notify you when the reading is complete.

Some customers say the gadget is a bit pricey, though they still overall recommend the device.

“Easy to use and simple to use,” one customer wrote. “No touch to forehead is a relief. A bit pricey, but that’s what is expected during this pandemic.”

If you want to save money, you can swipe up this Thermo-Power GP-200 for just under $50 or this ProHT Digital No-Touch Infrared Thermometer for only $34.

Another customer explained that the iHealth no-touch thermometer works great in their particular workplace, especially to save on wipes.

“These working amazing out on my job site where I have to take people’s temperatures before they can enter the job,” the shopper said. “The no touch feature keeps us from having to use so many sanitizer wipes!”

Times are tough and people are budgeting more. But where your health is concerned, you may want to splurge on this buy.
