Jason Flint, 17, of Blanchester, died at the scene of the crash that crash happened shortly before 10 p.m. on Settlemyre Road, according to Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Flint and another teen, a 15-year-old, were passengers in a 2008 Mazda MX-5 that was being driven by a 19-year-old woman, troopers explained.

The driver was going around a curve when troopers say it went off the road.

The Mazda then came back across the road before it went off the other side of the roadway, OSP explained.

The vehicle overturned after it went off the road the second time.

Troopers said Flint and the other teen were ejected from the vehicle. Neither were wearing their seatbelts, according to OSP.

The 19-year-old driver and 15-year-old passenger were taken to the hospital. Both are expected to be okay, troopers added.

This is despite a 7% national decrease in teen driving deaths during the same time period.

Teen driving deaths during the summer months also decreased from 2021 to 2022, from 1,541 across the U.S. to 1,431 – a 7% drop for drivers ages 15 to 20.
