These teams are seen as the best choices for people in Week 4 NFL survivor pools

If you are still alive in an NFL survivor pool, congratulations are in order. Most of your competitors have been eliminated.

It’s been a crazy start to the season, which has scrambled those knockout pools. Week 3 saw a couple more big upsets with the Colts upending the Chiefs and the Jaguars crushing the Chargers in Los Angeles.

What is the best matchup for Week 4 games? Some see a pair of teams in the NFC North and the AFC North as good picks. Here is a closer look.

The Packers are the most popular choice among knockout pool players, per the Sporting News. It wrote in part about Green Bay, which faces New England: “The Packers are going to have very high popularity this week. Not only are they almost 10-point favorites, but the Patriots will likely be missing starting QB Mac Jones after he suffered a high ankle sprain against the Ravens this past Sunday. Green Bay is one of only two teams (Philadelphia being the other) that has win odds over 70 percent as of right now. That means there’s a substantially higher risk going with other options.”

Two NFC North teams are at the top of the list for the Athletic’s Derek Tate: the Packers and Lions (who play Seattle). Here is a little of what he wrote about Detroit: “The fact remains that this offense has produced the second most points in the league, trailing only Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens. Well, they’ll welcome a Seattle Seahawks team to Ford Field that has allowed 27 points in each of the last two games against average offensive units, including surrendering over 150 yards on the ground in both of those contests.”

The Steelers are the choice from the Action Network’s Travis Reed. Pittsburgh plays the Jets, and Reed wrote: “You can see why people are drawn to Green Bay this week. Most of these other plays don’t feel great. And while it doesn’t feel great, it does have math on its side. The Steelers offer high expected value this week and absolutely zero future value for the remainder of the season.”

The Packers are the pick from Draft Kings. This is an excerpt from their story: “Rarely does a game get up over 50% of the action in a given week of a Survivor pool, but I would not be surprised if this was getting north of 50% in what is an otherwise pretty tough week. You could save the Packers for Week 6 against the Jets as well, but there is enough other value that week to use the Packers now.”

The Lions got a mention from the CBS Sports staff, which wrote: “Seahawks vs. Lions features a pair of 1-2 teams, but Detroit has a positive point differential and its only losses were by four or fewer.”

The Bengals are the choice from Yahoo Sports’ Greg Brainos. This is the “Thursday Night Football” game between Miami and Cincinnati. Here is a snippet from the story: “There are two mammoth factors that play into why I like the Bengals so much in survivor this week and one of those factors is the main impetus for the line movement; Miami’s defense played 90 snaps against the Buffalo Bills in brutal heat last Sunday. With only three days to rest before Thursday night’s contest, I don’t see a Dolphins defense that ranks 24th in defensive DVOA having the legs to attack Cincinnati’s offensive line or keep up with the Bengals’ lethal corps of receivers.”
