Preseason Big 12 Player of the Year Mike Miles Jr. is officially back.

TCU coach Jamie Dixon told the media on Friday that Miles will be ready to go when the Horned Frogs face Oklahoma State at 1 p.m. Saturday. Miles injured his knee against Mississippi State on Jan. 28 and has missed the last five games.

Including the game against the Bulldogs, TCU is just 1-5 since Miles’ injury. Dixon relieved to have his best player back with just a few games left in the regular season.

“Mike is ready to play and has practiced a couple times with us (this week),” Dixon said.

How much Miles will play against the Cowboys is still to be determined and Dixon will monitor his usage closely in his first game.

“He’s gone through a couple practices, but we haven’t had a full game yet,” Dixon said. “He’s been practicing and we’ve been conservative with (his usage).”

Having Miles back is a massive boost to TCU offensively and defensively. Miles 18.1 points per game average is still the second-highest in the league and Miles is one of just two of the top-15 scorers that are making more than 50% of their attempts.

Defensively, Miles gives TCU another body and Dixon has praised what he’s seen from the junior on the defensive end all season.

Center Eddie Lampkin is also getting close to 100% after dealing with an ankle injury sustained on Jan. 21 at Kansas. Dixon was encouraged about his progress after the Iowa State game on Wednesday.

“Every other game I’ve seen him, he’s limped,” Dixon said. “I didn’t think he was limping in the last game, I felt better about it.”

Reserve guard Rondel Walker didn’t practice on Friday and had his right arm in a sling. His status is in question for Saturday’s game.
