TCU plans $40M for athletic training centers, including football complex. Take a look
TCU has received a $10 million gift from the Jane & John Justin Foundation to renovate the Bob Lilly Performance Center, build a new football performance complex and develop a wellness center for all athletes.
The estimated $40 million project, announced Thursday, will be funded through private donations. Construction is expected to begin in 2024.
“We are grateful to the Jane & John Justin Foundation for their continued investment in our student-athletes,” TCU athletic director Jeremiah Donati said in a statement. “Their latest gift commitment underscores the momentum in our athletics program while also positioning us in the future to be a leader in maximizing the training and preparation of student-athletes for elite performance.”
We are so grateful to the Jane & John Justin Foundation for making the lead commitment of $10 Million to this incredible project. We have already raised over $20 Million in a few short weeks. This is a game changer for our @TCU_Athletics student-athletes️ #GoFrogs #TCU https://t.co/X6uX8Rv3MA

The project will begin with renovation of the Bob Lilly Performance Center, a training center built in September 2011 adjacent to the Sam Baugh Indoor Practice Facility. The project will include a studio for the women’s triathlon program, a yoga and stretching room, expanded weight room and cardio space, an expanded nutrition center, and the addition of an outdoor warm-up area.
A new 10,000-square foot Restoration and Wellness Center is designed to help athletes recover faster with an emphasis on injury prevention, TCU said. The center will connect to the Walsh Physical Performance Complex and the football locker room.
The Football Performance Center will connect the Sam Baugh Indoor Practice Facility and the Morris Practice Fields. It will include conference rooms and a 20,000-square-foot workout area.
TCU football coach Sonny Dykes said the project demonstrates TCU’s commitment to success across its 22 athletic programs.
“We are truly appreciative and grateful to the Jane & John Justin Foundation for their tremendous generosity in helping make this project a reality,” he said in the statement. “It will have an unbelievable impact on the student-athletes in our football program and show future Horned Frogs our shared commitment to their physical and mental health.”
TCU donors have spent $349 million on renovations to Amon G. Carter Stadium and Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena since 2010.
The latest addition to the football stadium, the $113 million Legends Club and Suites, opened on the upper deck of the east side in 2020.
