TCU’s ‘Flying T’ design back on Fort Worth shelves just in time for homecoming weekend

For the first time in over two decades, Texas Christian University fans can get their hands on “Flying T” merchandise just in time for homecoming weekend.

TCU fans can now shop t-shirts, fleece and head wear with the retro “Flying T” design at the TCU Campus Store or online. The TCU Campus Store is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.- 6 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. and Sunday noon- 5p.m. from at 2950 W. Berry St.

This Saturday, TCU (6-0) faces off against Kansas State (5-1) at 7 p.m. at Amon G. Carter Stadium. With many alumni in town for the big matchup and homecoming weekend, the Star-Telegram has a guide on what to do while visiting Fort Worth.

In 1977, TCU football player and student Marshall K. Harris created the “Flying T” design that was used for years as the university’s logo. The “Flying T” design was retired in the early 1990s and this is the first time since then that officially licensed merchandise has been available, according to TCU.

“I’m extremely honored and excited that the Flying T mark is being revisited after all of these years,” said Harris. “And I’m thankful for the collaboration with Jeremiah Donati and the rest of the TCU administration to contribute a little something relevant to the 150th celebration.”

The “Flying T” return is just in time for not only homecoming weekend, but as TCU celebrates its 150 year anniversary in 2023. The “Flying T” collection is part of the university’s college vault program that was created to pay homage to historical trademarks and traditions through merchandise, according to TCU.

“We are most appreciative of Marshall Harris for not just creating the initial design, but also working with us in this process to meet the demand of our fans,” said Jeremiah Donati, TCU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. “We know how excited everyone will be for the opportunity to proudly wear the iconic Flying T logo.”
