This Taylor Swift-Themed Bachelorette Party I Threw Was Even Better than My Wildest Dreams

When I first found out that my best friend, Michelle, was getting proposed to, my first thought was “YAYYYYYYYYYYAYYyyyy;gjlkrkjg” (or something like that), and my second thought was, “I wonder which Taylor Swift song she’s gonna walk down the aisle to.” (Arguably, a harder decision than deciding who to spend the rest of your life with.) So, you know when she tapped me and her sister as co-maids of honor, requesting a Swiftie-themed bachelorette party, I put in the WORK to make sure it was the best bash ever. Like, ever ever.

Michelle just so happened to go through the Great War (IYKYK) and got us all tickets to the Atlanta Night 1 Eras Tour show for her big bach weekend. This inspired me to decorate our rental as perfectly as possible and essentially go balls-to-the-wall on every detail of the party. Let me walk you through how I did it (Summer's Version):

But first... the era

Of course, I had to enlist the bachelorette party planning experts at The Bach Plan. Founder Bailey Reed and Emma Giluly, the company’s Austin Area Manager, truly gave me the best intel on how to throw a Taylor Swift bachelorette party, starting with getting specific on the theme. Blondie obviously has a lot of eras to choose from, and sticking with one (or, at most, they recommended three) would make things a lot easier, they said.

“When we have a theme involving Taylor Swift, most Swifties are major Swifties. There's not a partial Swiftie out there, so you have to go all out,” Giluly said. “Disco balls, colorful fringe, the personalized welcome signs. Swifties don't do anything halfway.” Correct. Mother didn’t write“All Too Well” (10 Minute Version) (Taylor's Version) (From the Vault) for her fans to do anything halfway. I landed on perhaps the most obvious, yet most intimidating (IMO), theme: Lover.

This Lover-themed itinerary is everything

<p><a href="https://go.redirectingat.com?id=74968X1596630&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.etsy.com%2Flisting%2F1250669633%2Fbachelorette-itinerary-template-taylor&sref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cosmopolitan.com%2Flifestyle%2Fa44225428%2Ftaylor-swift-bachelorette-party%2F" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" data-ylk="slk:Shop Now;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas" class="link rapid-noclick-resp">Shop Now</a></p><p>Taylor Swift Bachelorette Party Itinerary Template</p><p>$9.01</p><p>etsy.com</p>

One thing that Taylor taught me? You’ve got to put pen to paper, baby. Is a printed-out itinerary a bit dramatic in the days of group chats? Yes. But, it’s cute, and sending a digital copy out beforehand got the girls in the group so excited for our fun weekend. This simple template goes straight to your Canva and takes all of three minutes to customize.

The Vibes

Now, for the nitty-gritty. How, exactly, would I make sure that every room of our rental was Swift-ified enough? The Bach Plan girls told me to start with the balloons and work my way up. “Put assorted colors of balloons on the ground and couches,” Reed explained, “They make a huge difference and fill up a lot of space. Then make sure you have a backdrop focal area for pictures.”

Giuly also chimed in with,“You've got to have some disco in it. Some type of sparkle. Quotes everywhere.” As for the bridal suite, some cute bridal balloons and a foil entryway will suffice. “Don’t overthink it,” Reed said.

The perfect photo-op banner does exist

<p><a href="https://go.redirectingat.com?id=74968X1596630&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.etsy.com%2Flisting%2F1309778710%2Fshe-found-her-lover-brides-version&sref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cosmopolitan.com%2Flifestyle%2Fa44225428%2Ftaylor-swift-bachelorette-party%2F" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" data-ylk="slk:Shop Now;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas" class="link rapid-noclick-resp">Shop Now</a></p><p>"She found her Lover" Bride's Version Banner</p><p>$17.50</p><p>etsy.com</p>

Posing under this (fully customizable) banner was so fun, and I could tell that Michelle died and went to Lover heaven when she saw her name hung up. Another garland we absolutely had to have? This one with all the sass:

<p><a href="https://go.redirectingat.com?id=74968X1596630&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.etsy.com%2Flisting%2F1401390678%2Fits-me-hi-im-the-bride-its-me-taylor&sref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cosmopolitan.com%2Flifestyle%2Fa44225428%2Ftaylor-swift-bachelorette-party%2F" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" data-ylk="slk:Shop Now;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas" class="link rapid-noclick-resp">Shop Now</a></p><p>Taylor Swift Bach Party Garland</p><p>$21.00</p><p>etsy.com</p>

So, yes, technically this is a riff on a Midnights lyric and I threw a Lover party, but it’s too cute not to get. This was the perfect focal point to hang above the bride’s bed. It helped make the space special and it came pre-strung. A gift from the Etsy gods.

The drinks

The Bach Plan girls were right about the small details being the most meaningful. They recommended that I pick the bride's favorite songs and make drinks out of them to add a little something *extra* to the setup. I printed out a customizable Lover-themed cocktail menu from Etsy and then picked up these super adorable disco ball-inspired cups. The Bach Plan ladies actually have their own Etsy shop filled to the brim with Swiftie decor, and these cups from their shop were an absolute crowd-pleaser! They were so loved that the girlies took them home in their carry-ons.

Also... Yes... I have to believe in my soul that Taylor loves mimosas, so this was an integral part of the party setup. We left it out throughout the weekend and had zero champagne problems.

And for the girlies on the trip who could use the opposite of a little extra on nights out, the duo has a special themed drink option dubbed the You Need to Calm Down drink—which, according to Reed, is just water. (Absolutely iconic.)

These anti-hangover packets are a must

I hate the taste of hydration packs in general, but these are the only ones on the market that don’t make me gag. A crucial trait for hungover me. I added these to the girls' goody bags, and they used them every night and every morning to ward off hangovers.

The goodies

I wholeheartedly recommend gifting your bride with a few goodies during her bach party. I laid out everything from earrings to dresses on her bed as a surprise, and she was incredibly grateful.

It’s actually a law that every bride-to-be needs an all-white sweatsuit for their fiancé days. This one from Hollister is so soft. I gifted it to Michelle to start the weekend and she wore it pretty much every second she wasn’t in Eras gear.

Michelle and I have made so many memories over the years, but throwing her a Taylor Swift-themed bachelorette party will always be one of my favorites. There’s nothing like watching your best friend feel loved and celebrated all weekend long, especially when you get to see Blondie one night and then drunkenly belt out “Better Than Revenge” on a party bus the next. Thankfully, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) will come out before the wedding.
